im lost,does the spear come out of his hand like in the movies or is it like a grapple hook?

Yeah, that Im curious on how Scorpion can shoot his spear out of his hand when the spear is placed at the backside of his waist. Just weird, also in the MKDA promo pic of Scorpion that his hand is shown shooting a spear with a hole on it. Anyways this is just fictious.

If you think about it Scorpion is a ninja and he is a spectre so I bet he is so fast you don't even see him whip it out, throw it and pull it back when it misses.

i think he has a little hloe in that rist guard that shoops out his spear but one thing thats has me is on MK2 the movie he had 2 snake like spears and on the games he has 1 normal spear connected to a rope it we be so much cooler if it were like a snake like on the movies

Prior to MKDA/MKD, it was more of a magical usage.
The Shirai Ryu combined magic with fighting skills. So I think from MK's 1-4 it came from out of his hand or wrist, kind of like spiderman's webbing. 
But in MKDA/MKD, it was hanging out from beside him and he threw it that way. That was just the new design though in my opinion.

Well, if we wants to get all kinds of technical, he actually throws the spear in a frame by frame animation. He just does it really fast. Always has.

Knowing Scorpion, His spear is actually a Kunai attached to a rope and a Kunai is a throwing knife that the ninjas used, His costume in DA and Deception has a kunai attached to it, which must mean he throws the Kunai which also has a sturdy rope behind it, Which also brings up a good question:
Where the hell did the rope come from?!
That is beyond me.

mabey the cord comes out of his hand and then he quickly attacts the spear part to it before you see. because i remeber in an enterview whit ed boon that he says it comes off his waist. or mabey no one will ever know, i mean their are a lot of controdicting stamentets on it.
