I know what you mean, they said that it was going to come out in the spring of 06, now next year. I don't know guys, I beginning to think it's a rumor, but I went on a fan page, to might see a prograss, go to http://MovieWeb.com. It tells you the latest movie that will come out in theaters. So, maybe MK3 movie news might pop-up on that webpage soon. But was it a interview with Robin Shou saying that it was going to be another movie? I swear a fanpage had the video of it.

I'll just post it in here rather than making a new thread:
This is brand new information revealed from Robin Shou - the actor who played Liu Kang in both Mortal Kombat films:
"I got the bad news. I won't be in the next MK. Apparently, Sub-Zero will be the new hero. How'd that come about? No body knows. As if my character never existed. The story supposedly takes place before Lui Kang's time. A prequel of prequel. I haven't read the script but the word out there was... bad. I guess that's why it's taking this long for it to happen. I guess the main reason was that the producer didn't want pay the original casts their regular fee so by taking out all of the original characters, replacing with new characters, so they could hire unknown actors for a cheaper price. That's show biz."
"It is time to move on from MK but of the other hand, I wouldn't hesitate to play Lui Kang again. And it wouldn't be a step backward, it's actually seeing Lui's character grow into maybe one of the elder Gods. He definitely has earned it. Yeah, let the fans know. I hope it won't disappointed them too much."

I'd like to say that, this is rather suprising, that the movie will probably be a Mythologies Sub-Zero rather than follow Mortal Kombat 4's plot line. However, I can't really say I'm disappointed a huge amount because after Anihilation f**ked up the plot so much, I'm not certain I'd want to see Shinnok again in the movies, or see how it would play out, assuming the second movie was used as movie-canon material and not excluded altogether. Unfortunatly, there's no news about when the movie is due out, only that the director of the film is working on an animated film right now, and might go into the 3rd MK movie when it is completed.

...depressing if anything...I wanted to see some new guys in action...Sub-Zero...Scorpion...probably very cheap-like Gods...I'm not excited...
...and a bad script...no shit...you can't make that script good...

That's sucks man. Instead of calling it Mortal Kombat 3: Devastion, they should named it Mortal Kombat: Sub-zero Mythologies beacuse really it's not a 3rd, it's a prequel, which I was looking forward for the new movie to be going forward not backward. I am very disappointed.

I don't have any source, but IGN reposted a long time ago a few months before Katrina hit that they were building a new filming studio inside a theme park that was being built in Louisiana. The studio was supposed to be a part of the theme parks attractions where the people could walk through and actually see up and coming movies being filmed. Mortal Kombat was going to be the first movie shot in the new studio apparently, but everything was put on hold because Katrina destoyed the theme park and the building apparently.
If you look on IGN a bit, you'll probably find the report somewhere.

After the announcement in may from moviehole that the new mortal kombat movie will be set in the beginning before the first mortal kombat movie, since I have recieved a message from mink the director last week saying that they sre still working on the scirpt and when it is done they will start rolling, I am very excitde about the new movie! and hope that Quan chi will be in the movie this time, that'd be neat
