Yeah that is a very good question. I guess Netherrealm cannot really vanish. But the warriors lost in this final MK will maybe wander around endlessly as souls.
We can only await what will happen.

That wouldn´t be very fun having an ordinary characther as end boss. I didn´t like Shinnok and the Deadly Alliance as end bosses. The end boss should be a huge guy like Shao Kahn or Onaga.

If it's going to be canonical(is that even a word?) then I don't think it would be a Mrtal Kombat game without the Sub-Zero's and Scorpions and allthat. Midway better bust their balls if their gonna start from scratch.
If it's non-canonical, Then maybe we'll see the original cast of MK return. Pretty much MK3 and previous.

Hm, I wonder if Midway might pull a Joke ending (uncanon of course) were everyone just has an all out battle and everyone ends up dead in a comical "The punched each other at the exact same time" fashion :3

youre right, immortal kombat it is. 
i think midway looks in such forums and try to do mka perfect.
and you know i think it will be perfect because in this game everyone is classic, someones maybe older but you know them.they solved all problems i think. mortal kombat isnt like final fantasy. final fantasy is everytime different. mortal kombat would be boring if they add some new charas in new parts. they do it right if they decide its the last part, but next parts would be boring,werent they?
(except for mortal kombats like mythologies and shaloin monks of course)
midway, we will miss you after mka

But this isn´t last MK. Only last part of this chapter (or whatever they said). So there will be new MKs after MK:A- with new story and many new characters

I honestly think the next generation will be better, for the fact it will have better graphics and probably better move combos, and possibly better Fatalities, I just hope the Mortal Kombat team will make the next after Armageddon (of course) will be truly great just like the ones that came before.

i bet in the sum up of the firts 3 next gen games they will throw in either trilogy or armageddon in as a bonus  Not every ending has to be bad even though barely every character is killed
