I think it's time to kill some of the ugly, weakly, useless "Sorry Mr.Boon i was drunk while programming"-chars that no one likes..... but to kill the all time favourites would be a bad failure...... imagine : "After the great Armageddon.....the world will never be the same again.....many have died in brutal fights.....the realms are sending out their new deadly warriors..... Coming soon in ! Mortal Kombat: Family Revenge !" ..........Nobody wants to see sorpions little sister fight against Sub-Zero's mother ... AW MAN ! ! !

After MKA, I think that they might make about a lot fewer characters in a game. Also, The next-gen game should have new warriors just in case.

...I think we all fear (after Sir Smile-a-lot's deja vu thread) that MK8 will be far too much like MKIV in which it will have previous character though will attempt with many new characters...I personally feel that they will find a way to make it kick ass no matter what but be assured it will have many new characters and still a few old...

I believe that MK8 will rock. It doesn´t have to be like MK4 (despite my original dejavu theory). You know... the current chapter ends after Armageddon. And if the cycle repeats from scratch, then MK8 could be like MK1: new beginning, revolutionary game and off course... many, many sequels

...I agree...not to mention us storyline nerds can follow along easily if they just flow to the next generation or include back-story that hints toward previous kharacters/koncepts...so what we're looking for is MKI...not MKIV...

Lets keep in mind folks that just because someone gets killed off in Armageddon, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be dead forever. I mean Liu's been dead for three games now but his shambly shoalin self is still forward forward heavy kicking my ass left and right.
I think MK 8 will be just as good as the previous games have been. i personally love that every new MK game has new characters in it And MK 8 would promise many new characters. If current characters do actually get killed off for good then it will allow the story writers to expand current low teir characters, making them better.
ps. Darrius=Samuel Jackson, and that's just to cool for school.

Haha, once I get more storyline in my head, I'm pretty sure my posting is going to go back up.
Torso777, while I understand your point, you must see that the chances of minor and unimportant characters coming back are slim. They went into production with this game having the intent of starting again with a somewhat clean-slate. Characters like Mokap are almost certainly gone after this game.

Armageddon is going to be the best of all the mortal kombat series period. The rest after will probably never follow up. Which totally sucks. Since ya'll are tired of new characters there is one thing they all have in common...they're human or look human-like. They don't have unique characters of different races, special attacks, etc. I'm in love with these games hahaha.

...I think everyone's problem with the next games is that they under-estimate what these next-generation systems will do for us...the new Mortal Kombats will have many fantasty-like features we've never witnessed...we'll probably bow down to them and Geddon will be a memory...
...new characters I'm sure will have some bad-ass storylines if they just get a little creative...some characters I think were meant to be crappy hated characters...like Kobra...I think without hated characters the game loses its purpose...I hated Johnny Cage from the beginning and I always love kicking his ass when I get the chance...Deception wasn't as fun for me considering I couldn't kick his ass...but at least I had Kobra...
...the point of that is not all new characters are crappy...the MK Krew chooses if they want them to be crappy or not...they can even take fucked up alternate costumes and turn them into bad-ass characters (Havik)...
...and as a side-note...I still don't think Geddon will beat MKII to me...there's a little tender chunk of my heart that won't let it go...

It is probably too early for me to answer this question for now but, I think it might not be the best if they kill off a lot of characters but, I don't thnik that the new games could match up to MK:A.

All I can say is it feels almost like a part of the MK universe will die after MKA. I mean ever since 1992 we've grown attached to Scorpion, Cage, Sonya, Raiden, Sub - Zero etc. It seems like when the new MK comes out, these new fighters are gonna be cutting in on our fucking action. All in all after Armageddon, MK is gonna feel pretty goddam different. On a side note though, if I never see Stryker, Sektor, Kobra, or Darrius again I won't shed any tears.

This is the last MK game Ill ever play, I dont want to see what the new characters are like. No way theyll match up to the current lineup.
