huh,interesting..i know theres more examples but i cant think,u know any characters that happened to?
BTW,on mk2's beginning..it says itself that the mortal kombat person who owned the torniment(goro) died...in other words..goro died in mk1

Although it doesn't apply because no, Goro didn't die, but Johnny Cage has an unexplained death and revival... They even make a joke about it in Konquest mode of MK DA

classic sub-zero was supposedly killed in the first game according to i believe Noob-Smokes ending in MKD yet classic Sub-zero was playable in UMK3 and so was Noob.

i think mk3u was like trilogy,it was just to play,it didnt go along with the story..hmmm where did i hear that goro owned mortal kombat...i remember the elder gods made it but ..ah whatever...but im sure goro died...ill have to find out..

"Goro became Grand Champion of the Mortal Kombat tournament after defeating the Great Kung Lao. For 500 years, he remained undefeated, and helped Shang Tsung grow ever closer to achieving Shao Kahn's goal of domination over Earthrealm. In his 10th title defence however, he faced Liu Kang. Kang pushed him to his limits, and defeated the mighty Shokan before going on to defeat Tsung. In the tournament's aftermath, Goro went missing, and it is theorized that he retreated into Outworld during this time. Shang Tsung, meanwhile, faced execution for his apparent death.
He would resurface after Kahn's downfall, during the events of Mortal Kombat Gold. Despite having the intent to avenge his loss at Liu Kang's hands, Goro began to take an interest in the matters of his own race and joined his fellow Shokans in war against the Centaurians. Princess Kitana intervened and negotiated both races through a truce and peace accord. The meeting was interrupted, however, by Kung Lao, who had himself desired to challenge his ancestor's killer. The Shaolin Monk lashed out with a ceremonial strike of revenge that left Goro's chest scarred. Considering the score settled, the two shook hands. When Shinnok and his legion were defeated and Edenia was free once more, Goro and the Shokan race decided to ally themselves with the Edenians. Years later, during the time of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, the united Edenian and Shokan forces attacked the weakened Shao Kahn's armies. Exhausted from battle, Goro was struck from behind and mortally wounded by Noob Saibot, apparently dying from the injury."

Goro was badly wounded by Noob Saibot. But then Shao Kahn appeared and helped him. But Kitana thought that Goro really died.

First off, Shang Tsung assumed Goro was killed when his island was in ruins at the beginning of MK2, that's where you got the Goro got killed idea.
The peace accord was between the Edenians and the Shokan that Kung Lao interrupted with a toss of a hat. Which he ended up slicing Goro's chest.
Scorpion killed Sub-Noob-Zero-Saibot. Funny that Scorp didn't see noob in the netherworld...

Even if Scorpion saw Noob in the Neatherealm, he probably wouldn't be able to recognize him. His soul has been completly tainted by evil and he's now a wraith.
In the comics (remember, game wise this is uncanon) Goro is teleported away during/near-the-end-of the tournament by some sorcerer, for reasons I forget why (I have the comics, I could break them out and find out but I'm too lazy to do that right now).
Game storyline wise, it is most likely that Goro fled the scene to Outworld after his embarressing defeat at the hands of Liu Kang. Having been champion for 500 years then loosing to a short asian guy, it's pretty embarressing, especially since he's a Shokan prince.
Tsung was exiled for allowing Goro to "die" (they presumed him dead after he vanished) and for failing to obtain the 10th victory needed to invade the realm of earth. Goro however resurfaced with Shinnok's coming to exact his revenge, as stated in his bio.

On a side note, in another thread debating Liu Kang being an ancestor of the Original Kung Lao, it was almost unanimous that Kang was in fact not related. However, based off Goro's MK4 bio, this goes against that theory. Just thought I'd mention it.
