Whats with Drahmin's mask and such? Is there any source that says who he was before he was an oni?

In his story, it says he was a human so consumed with rage and hate that he manifiested into an oni, and that mask is what allows him to control his Oni urges and ruthlessness.

His story always reminded me of a character in the Forgotten Realm book series who was banished to a stable part of the netherealm after being flayed alive to suffer torment for a year and forgotten about. As I recall she became oni like with a murderous rage and was completely insane
