There's another part you guys might have overlooked:
Who selected first and Who selected second.
Sure, you guys are thinkin', "So what?"  But Most fighters actually choose the alternate color by who pressed START first.
The Tv might also be part of it, but considering that no two tvs are exactly the same, its safer to go with this.
PS: -Sub Zero-, If I hear another Smart-@$$ comment about my logic, I'll get my Kunai out.

what it really is that 1st player's ermac is redorange and 2nd players ermac is dark red
