If he's from prehistoric earth, then he would definitely be much much older than Kitana. Especially if his race came right from the dinosaurs, that would be millions from now. |
Yes it would mean millions of years, but who's to say Reptile was one of the first of his species? Most likely the original first generations were wiped out by humans when they forced them to flee to their own realm, or from old age.

Agreed, but still, he's sure as hell a lot older than Kitana...

In Reptile's MK4 ending is was said that Shao Kahn was the exterminator of Reptile's remianing species, this makes sense because he rules outworld. So I suppose, if you want to believe that all is canon, that sometime durning MK3 Shao Kahn had time to destroy all of the Saurians and that explains Reptile's absence from MK3. You know, trying to protect his loved ones or something to that extent

It doesn't say that Kahn was the one responsible for exterminating them, but it would make sense that it was him. Perhaps in an act of rage for his failed attempts at taking Earthrealm in MK3, Kahn ordered the extermination of the remaining Saurians that were currently being abused as slave labour.
Here's an excerpt from his MK2 ending:

So yes, we've seen a transition here from nearly extinct to extinct. Kahn must have ordered their extermination with the exception of Reptile. Perhaps it is that during MK1, there are still some of his species left roaming around Outworld and the other realms, but Shang Tsung plotted to have them all eliminated.
The plot thickens...

I can't wait to see how they explain everybody coming back in armageddon and storywise especially REPTILE, but to be more on topic in the create-a-character mode you could recreate the whole Zaterran race.
