Yeah...I think that was the main problem with Street Fighter...it wasn't serious at all, it was just 'I'm gonna beatchyou' or 'No, I'm gonna beatchyou!' Though Mortal Kombat was very dark, and was always able to intrigue you...

Yeah, particularly MK3/UMK3/MKT had a darker feel to it. The music was great and the backgrounds were darkish and eerie. I remember when I firtst bought and played UMK3, the purple skeletons in the opening menu scared me a bit.

I love how they make the sucking of everyone's souls so dramatic...it really made me go 'holy crap, that's very serious!'

Also the fact that you knew you had the risk of getting killed if you lost, as opposed to other games where when you loose, you fall down and stay down. So you're always worrying you're gunna get killed off as a consequence of failure.
The Pit III was a cool level too, a good successor to the 2 previous ones in my opinion.

Yeah...I think they flopped The Pit in MKII...though the third proved MK's awesome originality...

Yeah, the Pit II wasn't as good as I or III. Though I liked the background in it, hitting flat ground just wasn't as creative as it could have been.

MKII's Pit had the other bridge in the background right? With Blaze and 'Hornbuckle'?

That wasn't the Pit I bridge in the background. The bridge design of the one in the back with Torch on it is the same as the one you fight on. There just happens to be 2 of the same bridges going across a massive divit in land down below.

They stopped calling him Torch because the Fantastic Four comics tried to sue...and it was confusing...though you probably already know that...
...that's why they started calling him Blaze, besides, it was only a fan-based name...
