|

This is my first post here, so first of all I should say hello there.
Been a MK fan from the begining and I am attempting to get more involved in MK fans sites more than I used to with the up coming realese of MK:A
I am curious to get the opinion of posters on this site about Death Traps. Particularly on which method do you prefer to activate them.
While I enjoyed most of the death traps in Deception, I am not so keen on them being activated anytime during the match and I don't think it make sense for a fighter to be knocked into a death trap in the first round and then come back into the second round as if nothing happend. I think alot of ot steems from my general dislike of "Ring outs" in 3D fighting games. I always found them to be cheap ways of deceiding fights.
Personally I would like to go back to the old school way of using button combination to activate the stage fatality. Or even just keep the current method of knocking the fighter in with a suitable strike but only allow it to happen at the "Finish Him/Her" stage ala MK1 on The Pit.
Looking at the E3 vids of MK-A, it looks like they are still using the MK-D method which I feel is a little bit dissapointing.
What do you prefer?

i myself too like the deception like death traps when i play my deception it's cool punching people in there to see them get killed. In older games i thought it was frustration to have to do a combo to get people into the death traps cause you already had to do a combo for basically everything else like brutatlities animatalitys even tho i never did those. _________________

First off, welcome to TMK.
Second: I actually prefered ye old MK1 pit method. Because:
1. You had to wait till they were ready for a fatality (Meaning the match is already over)
2. All you had to do was an uppercut.
This method provides a fair fight, and a still satisfing victory. _________________

Welcome to the forum.
I have to say, while I liked the stage fatalities in Deception, I thought it was a little cheap that your opponent could kill you in basically one hit, even if you were on the verge of winning. I didn't like the stage fatalities (how they were performed I mean) in MK2/MK3 because you had to do a certain combination of buttons which just gets annoying for stage fatalities.
So I think the best way is to have them, but only when the match is over and it acts as a fatality like it would in the 2-D games. Also, it should require only one move to perform it, not a bunch of combinations. _________________

Welcome, eleven, to the TMK forum and here's the crash course. Ok, some of you say that you want the old school style of just knocking an opponent into the stage fatality, but what happens if they do not have an uppercut, how do u knock them in, then? The button combinations were ok for the Pit II and the Kombat Tomb because they worked. In the Dead Pool, however, it was a different story because of the combination (i.e. hold lp+lk (d+hp)) and u could only accomplish that fatality once in a great while. Some of the button combinations were easy, like Scorpion and Sub-Zero's pit move in MK II (D,F,F, blk). Those were the easy ones. With these death traps, we do not have to worry about such things anymore and can instantly kill an opponent instead of waiting for the computer to say "Finish Him/Her" to kill them, unless a fatality was to be performed. In my opinion, we should keep the death traps as an easier way of killing our opponents instead of a button sequence or a simple move to kill our opponent. _________________ Highest Kreate-A-Fatality: 11 (Ultimate Fatality)

Yeah but why deactivate them? They are so fun.
But regards the poll I like all the alternatives there. But I think it should be a form of "ring-out" like in MKD. _________________ Kano wins!!

The system that they have now is doing great. It's easy, quick, and can be done at any time. I think this is the best way for them do do stages... I was always confused as to why you could uppercut someone on the pit and they wouldn't fall and then you do the exact same thing at the end and suddenly, your opponent would fall. _________________

That is also an intersting idea. Or if the rounds can be set to one round to simplify things. _________________ Kano wins!!

I'm with VainZiler & Amphibious on this one.
I think they look grate but they should be only activated on the "finish him" request of the anowncer [sorry about the spelling] they feel very very cheep when you win on a 2 player match with one or if I loose I feel cheated of my chance especaily if your winnig like some one said.
The MK1 pit was my vote cuz it's still easy and it's not cheep. also as Scorpion53 said if they keeped the combo easy like the scorpion pitII [D,F,F,blk] and it worked on all the stages that would be kool IMO _________________ Nothing is free! Not even revenge!

I wouldnt mind if it was a knockdown to the deathtraps. Back then you like have to press some buttons just to execute the player uppercutting the opponent to a spiked ceiling. Now seeing that it's 2006 I say you manually knock your opponent to a deathtrap. _________________
