When the computer(I am not sure if it's second player as well) does a fatality, it sounds much more gruesome and louder. Check next time you play mk1 on mat:ep(probably nobody cares about this though, just like nobody cares about me).

Does the game have stereo sound and maybe your TV only mono? That might have an effect like that.

I was talking about on the psp, I am not sure if it is on mono or stereo.
