As stated in one of the many interviews with the MKTeam available, they're focusing mostly on the new fatality system. So, unless there's time near the end of production, or they push the release date back, they're not going to add in the other 'alities' or hara-kiri's. Though if they make the new fatality system really awesome, it's easily a fair trade.

...these brutal fatalities don't compare with the impact of the classic brutalities...though perhaps you can make your opponent explode in the end...*crosses fingers*...

i saw it some where that at the end of a fatality that they do explode

...perhaps it will be like MKIV in which several people have animalities or other things of such instead of their regular fatalities...
...such as Liu Kang's Dragon and Scorpion's...Scorpion...

Would be so much work for the MK team to come up with animals for all characthers. I think the new Fatality system is better and should be the only -ality in the game.
