So...who do you want to see come out alive in the final bout?
5) Goro or Kintaro - the shokan are a signature part of MK and both Goro and Kintaro are mighty warriors as well as kombatants, without them they would be missed for sub-bosses and advanced storyline.
4) Tanya - she wasn't everybody's favorite female though she served one of the largest roles in carrying the plot since MKIV, and is known for her wicked betrayal.
3) Rayden - he is the morale protector of 'right' and 'wrong' in MK and is necessary to maintain the balance of evil and the not-so-evil, not to mention his representation of Godship that many like to feel they can possess along with their MK mortals.
2) Sub-Zero & Scorpion - I decided to put them together considering their loyal fanbase of which would not 'respect' them as well without each other, and they are essential to the story, bringing back memories of the originals that few can maintain.
1) Shao Kahn - as the most fearsome leader and warrior to compete against, he is notorious for finding himself in the throne of Outworld and he doesn't have to change the plot because the plot revolves around him.
*Side-note: I was considering adding Liu Kang to the chart considering memory, the path of light, memorable moves, and leading the original games, though when it's your time to go, you just gotta go.*

5) Kitana/Mileena/Jade- I love female ninjas so much. I hope at least one of them will survive.
4)Sub-Zero(without Scorpion- I don´t like the yellow man so much)-Lin Kuei could replace ´White Lotus Society´ in the future.
3)Ashrah- I wish to watch her ´after-demon´ life. And she could be the main enemy of...
2)...Quan Chi- My favorite villain. (He fooled everybody: Sub-Zero (5), Shinnok, Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung.)
1)I rarely agree with Krave, but I have to admit that there would be no MK without Shao Kahn

Its hard picking just 5 fighters, but here I go
5) Sindel/Jade - For the simple reason that Edenia needs SOME resistantce against outside forces, and each of these characters are known for their excellent efforts at defending the realm.
4) Rain - He wasnt given enough time to prove himself as a warrior in my opinion, and I think his fanbase would be very disapointed if he didnt return to other games
3) Sub-Zero & Scorpion - They are both essential characters to have in any Mortal Kombat game, and they both have excellent storylines
2) Mileena & Kitana - Again, they both have excellent storylines and both are very popular fighters in the MK universe.
1) Shao Khan & Kintaro - They were the best boss selections ever made, and both are very well respected both in the game and with the fans.

5) Raiden- god of thunder etc he's also a reason mortal kombat is amazing just his lighting moves are what makes him the good god he is.
4)Scorpion and Sub Zero- They just have to be in future ones they made the mk game what is is today period.
3)Rain- Like mentioned he wasn't in this mk series that long so far only being in umk3 and triology with now a apperance in armageddon he's defitnely a ninja/knight that should get more chances to be in future ones.
2)Reptile- Reptile is just awesome what can i say just his deadly moves and finishers are why he's amazing.
1) Kitana-Mileena What can i say just always loved using these two twin sisters even if one is evil one is bad they just make mortal kombat awesome.

5. Shao Khan- he is one of the biggest rulers ever in the history of mk
4. Kintaro- He will pwn you ifyou mess with him
3. Raiden- He is the thunder god that is all you need to know
2. Scorpion- He has to get his revenge on sub-zero and quan chi

Heres my reasons:
1.Sub-Zero - Favorite Character, and very enjoyable story lines.
2.Rain - Havent been in many Mortal Kombats,now that they brung him back I relize how cool of a character he is.
3.Shinnok -I don't know if many people like him as much as I do but he should be a greater character than Shao Kahn but no one realy relizes he should.
4.Shao Kahn - Shao Kahn...Well hes the Emperor of Outworld.
5.Stryker - Hes fun to play as and since hes brought back and all done-up he should of been brought back before.

...I agree Shinnok is under-rated...though lets face it...he'll never rule anything other than Hell...

1. Sub-Zero & Scorpion because they are my best and favorite characters. And they're essential to MK in my opinion. What would MK be without those two or hearing "Get over here!"
2. Raiden because he's a God, I like him, he's the one who guides the young Earthrealm heroes.
3.Shao Kahn because he is the ruler of Outworld. He is really more recognizable because he never changes but he's still cool.
4. Shang Tsung because he's the quintessential bad guy and I agree with John Vogel that he's the symbol of evil in MK.
5. Kung Lao/Liu Kang because they're who they are. I can't really explain why they are essential to the series but I know that they are.
NOTE: Raiden would also be a good character to lose because someone else might be promoted to God status to guide the future warriors.

...I thought the same thing...though in MK Gold...Shinnok defeated many Gods of the Heavens and few could take his place...the only ones we know for sure are alive...are a few Elder Gods...and Fujin...
...I don't want Rayden replaced by Fujin...he doesn't share the same wisdom...

Maybe one of the good characters, who will die in Geddon, could be promoted to God for his/her good deeds. I can imagine Kung Lao as God and Guide
