Good job I saw this thread
Was about to post a topic on it
I started thinking about this today and its been bugging me for ages
but my theory is
Half Tarkatan Half God
Tarkatan because they are or were the primary species in Outworld so it makes sense
God because of its enchanced and surreal extreme strength that cant seem to be explaned logically.
(Also if the movies are correct, Shinnok is an Elder God so his two sons, Kahn and Raiden, must be gods) except Shao Kahns mother must be a Tarkatan.
Its a long shot. But an image of Shao Kahn in a MK2 comic showed him resembling a Tarkatan when his mask was off.

Movies and comics aren´t canon. In other words: Don´t trust anything what isn´t said (or written) in MK games. (And even some of these informations you find in the games aren´t canon: for example most of the endings etc.)

Thats why I said it was a long shot lol
I'll still go with half Tarkatan because it is the primary outworld species and half God because of unatural and unexpalnable strength... even based on just the games.

He was shown without the mask in MK:SM too. And his face IMO partially resembled that of Tarkatan warrior. Though again, many will tell you that MK:SM isn´t canon. But I agree with you, because I personally also think there is some Tarkatan blood in his veins

...as do I...tarkatan...Outworldian...and the extreme strength can be explained from a long line of dragon-blood (maybe even merely shokan)...though I'm just trying to spread my 'conjoined build-up of souls' theory...
...perhaps it's better left to question as many stories leading to the greatest warriors are shrouded...I'd leave Kahn with the legends any day...
