I didn't played mkda, so i can't tell about mavado. But in mk4 reiko wasn't strong at all.

...no possible way Kabal could beat Mavado in a dual...Kabal would be pawned and Mavado would laugh (or just stare in disgust) because he's just that cool...

Also, because Mavado nearly killed Kabal and left him for dead, stealing his hookswords as a trophy

I like Mavado, I think he's ok but I must say that Kabal would defeat him. Even through storyline Mavado defeats Kabal and claims his hookswords, but Kabal eventualy slays Mavado and reclaims his weapons. Mavado only defeated Kabal, where as Kabal actually slayed Mavado.....so the way I see it is that Kabal is better

But Kabal couldn´t slay Mavado, if Havik hadn´t healed him before. And Mavado didn´t need any help to defeat Kabal

All Havik did was heal him. He didn't give Kabal any more power. So if he defeated Mavado with the same power and skill sets, then it was all a matter of situation that enabled either of them to defeat the other.
