Here is something i dont get. why is rain so popular. i mean like i know he is one of the ninjas but ermac isnt a favorite of many fans so what is so special. Can anyone tell me that i would really appreciate it

He is talking about Rain, but was using Ermac as an example. Rain may just be another pallate swap ninja, but his moves were origanal and his combo's were deadly. Plus, he had an intresting story.

I would rather say that both his moves and combos were very cheap. But the story was really great. And I´m glad that he betrayed Kitana. I don´t want him to be another good guy. He could even have his own ambitions in MK:A (not only blindly serve Shao Kahn or anyone else).

...his moves were really cheap though his storyline was pretty awesome...though he seems more nuetral than evil...
...personally I preferred Ermac by far...and Deception only helped prove that to me...his storyline is original and sad...and it kinda reminds me of Inuyasha how a bunch of Demons can join and form one guy...

People often like hideously overpowered cheap characters. Ermac was strong but he was not the gamebreakingly cheap character that Rain was.

There's a big difference between a character feeling overpowered because you are good with them and a character that is scientifically overpowered by having very simple moves that can always lead to 100% damage infinites with little difficulty. Rain is such an overpowered character. Its just the way of the tiers.
Even if I reach some a high level using Sindel, a halfway decent Kabal with a knowledge of basic kabal strategies could be a very difficult opponent, whereas a halfway decent Scorpion with a knowledge of basic Scorpion strategies would be a piece of cake.

I found Rain interesting because of his storyline. At the point when he was first playable (UMK3) and given a story, Rain was the first male Edenian we had seen. We know that he still serves Shao Kahn, despite the fact his realm was invaded and his father was killed by Outworld extermination squads. I just found it interesting he was able to place power and ambition above petty revenge. Despite his UMK3 ending (non-canon of course, at least so far as we know), Rain continues to serve Shao Kahn up until the events of Kahn's "death" in MKDA. On top of his cool but cheap moves and unique ninja colour, his story was cool. That's why I liked Rain.  If he wasn't a ninja though, I wouldn't have liked him.

I actually believe Noob is the cheapest character ever because, his infinites are way easier to pull of and every one of his special moves leads to an infinite. Anyway to talk about Rain, I like him a lot.

Rain's lightning, projectile, super roundhouse, and autocombo lead to his infinite. Ultra cheap.
Noob is still cheaper though, because he has that extremely fast walking speed and because he has a handful of ways to reset the combo counters, and that is down right stupid, at least in MKT for PSX.
