I was thinking about starting a petition of interest, and no this is not it. This is just a test to get some quick feed back to know if writing the whole thing out would even be worth while.
My question is. If Midway made it possible for you to download the PC version of MKT and you had to pay for it, would you?
There is a site I found that allows you to download entire games and try them for limited amounts of time. If you pay for them, you get an activation code.
I love MKT, but found out too late to get the PC version. The PC version is the best in my opinion because unlike the N64, you get all the characters. But, unlike the PS1, or so I've heard, there is no load time because it runs right off your PC. Can anyone confirm for me whether of not it is true that MKT PC has no load time.
Even if it does, I would much rather play the game on my PC than my PS2. My PS2 bugs out with MKT and I don't feel like buying a PS1 for one game.
I am asking this because I have talked with a lot of people and a lot of people seemed to show interest in the PC version of MKT. I think if there was enough interest showed by the fans Midway might team up with the site or start something like that on their own.
I know we might get MKT in MKA; I don't mind it there but I don't want it there myself. I would much rather get it on the PC. I also don't want to buy used, which seems to be the only way to get it.
My second question is. Should we ask for a transfer of MKT as is, or should we ask for an updated MKT. Some updates might include added backgrounds from MK1 that never made it into MKT. I miss the "Buddha" stage. Also, maybe restore Kitana's fan swipe with back and HP. And, maybe online play and not just Network play.
I am just not sure if it would be proper or fair to people who bought it already to ask Midway to make updates to a game almost a decade old. If not, I still see nothing wrong with making the game buyable online. It would make it possible to download the game, without buying used, and Midway still makes money.
My question is, would you be willing to pay $30.00 for a PC MKT off the internet from Midway, hypothetically.

$30...nah...
...the price is too high and my pc isn't as quick as most and I don't believe it would run well...I'm still crossin' my fingers for it with Geddon... _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

But Midway would probably not see the server space worth any less than $30.00, my computer is better than most and would run great, and the PC has much better graphic resolution than any TV. Seriously, I've played Midway Arcade Treasures 2 on both my PS2 and my PC. In Wako, or however you spell the space shooter game thing, I couldn't even tell what the characters I was shooting where on the PS2. On the PC with my 1024,768 Monitor I could tell pixel by pixel what they where. And, oh, by the way; I was using an HD TV too.

I think that could really happen.
I´ve heard that the next MAT should include UMK3 (is this information official at all?).
And because MK Trilogy was only for PC and consoles (therefore it won´t appear on MAT), then it could be part of MK:A- or MK:A collectors edition. _________________ DEVELOPER DIARIES

...if it's not for Geddon I will definitely consider it for PC considering it is of the few games I don't have...Trilogy, Gold, Special Forces...though I'm never getting Gold 'cause I ain't buyin' a DC for it...though I really wanted to play as Cyrax, Kung Lao, Baraka, and Sektor so I was pretty sad... _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."

I think rereleasing MKT for PC would be great. But I think $30 is too much. Maybe a remastered version with much better graphics, but as is PC=PSX as far as graphics which means the game looks very low res on a standard res monitor (versus a standard TV which is low res to start with).
MKT for PC is a very good version. It just needs an update to fix some of the gameplay bugs that got fixed in the final version of MKT for PSX. Other than those small changes it is identical to MKT for PSX and it can run off the HD to cut down on loading.
Also, it'd be nifty to have an improved netplay option for it. Its IPX netplay blew, even with GIT to connect via TCP/IP to another computer.
And I'd pay an extra $2 for the game if they balanced Noob and Rain. _________________ UltimateMK.com - The ULTIMATE Source of Kompetitive Mortal Kombat Information

Sites like these exist, just not with MK Games yet. Maybe $30.00 is extreme. But remember, there is a server that would be constantly holding the game for download that Midway would have to pay for. If anyone know of the Worms games like Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, and Worms World Party; they are availably for download. I think they charge only $15.00 for Worms 2, but $30.00 for Worms World Part.
Once again, you download the full game and get like and 30 or sometimes 60 min of free play time. Then it expires. Then all you have to do is pay for the game online to get an activation code which allows you to play the game forever more. You own the game. All the fun of the original. The only difference is there is no annoying CD-ROM that gets dirty and scratched, no buying a used dirty and scratched CD-ROMs, and no waiting for shipping. The idea is full proof. All the games are copy write protected. We are still honestly buying them. And Midway would still make their due profit.
The only downside is some of these games do not have their background tracks. We would have to stress heavily to Midway that the music is important to the game and even thought it may be a lot of trouble to make it possible with so many tracks, that it would be far worth it.
I really think if I see enough interest here I might start my petition for it. I think it is a great idea that MK fans would really and honestly go after. Most of our computers are so much better than they where when the game came out. That is why they sold and made so little. Most people's computers couldn't candle the game back then. But today's gamers would have no problem.
I think with such a devoted fan base, that even if it does come with MKA, I think a fair amount of people would still be interested in a PC game; even if it is just a copy and past of the original with no additional patchwork.
MKT will always be one of my favorite MK games and Video Games. I fell in love with Mortal Kombat with MKII and UMK3. MKT is basically UMK3 with MKII backgrounds dumped in add Goro. So, it took the characters and story line and loved from UMK3 and the movies and placed it with the atmosphere of MKII.
I was never aloud to buy the MK games for a very long time because my Mom said they made me too "hyper." So I never truly cared a handful of beans about Trilogy when it first came out because it wasn't for the arcade and it was out on systems I didn't yet have besides a PC that you couldn't rent for and would probably have sucked on the PC I had at the time.
But as I grew older I realized that this game blended so much of UMK3 and MKII, my two great loves, that it almost had to become my greatest MK love of all. And, I bat it back and forth whether it is or not.
I've tried to get myself excited about MKA, but I find myself; just not. I think I am far more a 2D MK fan than a 3D. Like most games, even MK4 with the same engine, the style changes from 2D to 3D and its a love it or leave it thing. I was never a huge, huge, fan of MK4. I saw MKDA and MKD as good and great for gamers today. But they never truly felt classic to me.
I see myself, even as best case scenario that MKA does have every single character, not falling in love with it on the same scale. My MK child hood was Princes Kitana fighting for her realm's freedom against Shao Kahn. I loved both movies and the cartoon series. MKT is the embodiment of this story.
As much as I try to tell myself MKT is far from perfect, was not the first I fell in love with, was not the last of its engine and kind, and does not have all the characters anymore, and far more reasons; to spite the fact it shouldn't be my favorite for so many logical reasons. I still find myself almost calling it my favorite. I think I might some day.
Whether I do or not, and whether or not it is the only MK game done like this, I think releasing the game like this would rock. Midway won't put it in a MAT, and an MKA bonus would leave the game still off of the PC. I think Midway, even for this one game's classic value, should still consider doing this. I'll wait for more feedback. Then, I might start to write my petition.
Do you think $15.00 or $20.00 would be more reasonable?

$20 sounds much better...I'd settle for that...especially if they evened Rain and Noob as Dreemer stated... _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."
