I know, it sucks. I wish the MK ladies would have less revealing outfits, so people concentrate on the amazingness of their moves rather than boobs.
But then MK sales would probably be about 90% less than what they usually are... *Sigh* |
I agree with you actually. I made a thread on this earlier about Mortal Kombat becoming like titles like Dead or Alive, where sex appeal is becoming almost more predominant than the fighting and gore. It's almost like the female characters are designed as eye-candy for the male players. I don't really like this in one respect because it derrives from what made MK great. On the other hand, being a guy, it makes good eye candy.

Wow, a very immature and sexist way of looking at things.  It's this kind of attitude that allowed the number of feminists to skyrocket in the world. While I agree that being overweight is a problem especially in the western society of today, and it's nothing to show off or be proud of, that doesn't mean we should go about saying overweight people, specifically women, should cover themselves up.

Well as I stated above, her points are justified in that some guys do like the girls as nothing more than eye candy which is why they play as them in the first place, not for their moves. I admit I am one of them.  And I'm pretty mature in many cases, which makes it even worse!

 ...well I swear I won't use Sheeva for eye candy...I'm serial...
...and I never normally used female characters before...most of them have the same moves and nothing character specific...I'm a male gamer but I'm sure as hell not sexist...nor do I stare at women all day...on sundays...
...MK is killin' time...girlfriend comes over it's...not killin' time...

I totally agree with you! That´s one of the reasons (though not the only), why is Ashrah one of my personal favorites. She doesn´t need a revealing outfit, but she´s still sexy. And she´s also one of the few MK girls (if not the only one) who isn´t wearing high-heeled shoes. She has the super fashionable hat instead

I only know two girls that's into MK and one used to play MK1 with me on the mega drive constantly as kids
The other is because she saw me playing MK 3 and the seemed to fall in love with it straight away, especially when she saw the Sub-Zero fatality where he lifts them above his head, freezes them then tears them in two

My 9yr old Female cousin likes it. She played Trilogy more than once
My 24yr Old Female cousin would play it. She's always picking Sindel.
as for males
I only know 3 or 4 that like Mortal Kombat at least that's what i think.
I'm 22yr old male, and i remember back when i was in my Jr High and HIgh School days i was obsessed with them. I'm bearly getting back into them.
It doesn't matter to me who many males or females like it. Since we are all equal, and equally individuals. As long as someone likes it, you can't talk to him or her. Not only that, there's lots of young and old people that like it too, not just the Young Adults to middle aged adults. (20-39).. My Grandpa bought me all the Mortal Kombat games, my father only bought part 1 and 2 i believe. My grandfather recorded it in VHS (both movies for me), My Dad took me to see MK:A the first day (I got all the way top row), My grandpa also took me to see MK:A cause i lied to him saying i feel alseep so i can watch it again.

Speaking of getting sad I am slightly younger than the old MK players but I grew up with it and the gap between MK 4 and Deadly Alliance was so long.
When it was koming out it was like a big rush of excitement I was like "Holy Shit a new Mortal Kombat game! When the fuck is it out?!"
I watched the trailer and I was totally shocked when Liu Kang got killed. The MK Champ I grew up with for years is just suddenly dead and gone from the games! Talk about sad but I got over it very quickly lmao
