so I was perusing the cosplay.com site earlier, and it hit me. why hadn't I been looking at MK cosplay? so I searched for Mortal Kombat and here's what I get...
Lolita Subby and Scorpion! I almost died of laughter. I love how the emblems on Sub-Zero's and Scorpion's armors are making weird faces.
just thought I'd share something new and funny with you guys. =D

Well, that certainly is an intresting choice (yet not surprising) of characters to cosplay as. Though the girls did a good job with the outfits, I wonder if anyone ever cosplays as other characters.

I saw a guy that did a decent Deception style Raiden, although the hat was ridiculously small, and another guy that did Jax, who fit him to a T, I must say. as with many cosplayers, the biggest problem I noticed was not neccessarily authenticity with the costumes, but the way they fit.
come on girls, if you've got the body for Kitana, then for god's sake, wear it skin tight against your nice lil apple bottom! if I had it, I'd do it. but alas... *pokes her butt and watches it jiggle* =/
if you guys find any other good or interesting cosplay, feel free to post it here! I love seeing people all dressed up. =D

Cosplay is awsome. I once went as a scorpion, but i cut myself pretty bad on my very real spear. one of the worst things EVER is seeing your band director with half his gut sticking out dressed as bo rai cho...*shudders*

Bo Rai Cho is one of the few characters that I advocate being fat to cosplay as.
I think that if you're fat, you shouldn't cosplay as a skinny anime girl. it's just... no. =(

I always wondered, "Is it okay to cosplay as a non-canon (made-up) Character?"
I originally was gonna make an outfit based off of the 'Old-Ninja' design, that way I could mix-and-match to be whatever chararcter I wanted. But I only found strips of Teal cloth, so I thought What if I made my own character using Midway's infamous 'mixing abilities' technique?, and here's what I came up with:
Name: Raptox
Clan: Lin-Kuei
Rank: Initiate
Race: Raptor/Human
Age: 20
Weight: 250 lbs
Height: 5' 10''
Abilities:
Nerve Toxin (Spits a paralyzing contact poison)
Snake-Kunai Throw (Yeah, we know the drill, 'GET OVER HERE!')
Slide (Same move as Sub-Zero and Reptile)
Invisibiltiy (Why don't I just call this guy a Raptor version of Smoke?)
Fatalities:
Snake Bite (Bites the opponent's neck, then beats the $H!T out of him while the venom takes effect.)
Boa Crush (Bites opponent's neck, then morphs into a snake that crushes the opponent.)
Story: The son of Chameleon and an unnamed Edenian, this Raptor Hybrid doesn't need to concentrate to maintain his human form. He eventually discovered the Lin Kuei and became a student of the Clan's teachings in order to bring peace to The Realms, as well as himself.

yeah, she's pretty good. here are a couple other good examples of wearing the costume right.
she did her hair right and got the mask at just the right size and tightness against her face. it's little details that make a costume really good to me.
the Kitana in this picture has almost the perfect body type for the costume IMO.
as for cosplaying as your own original character, I think it's a cool idea. not everyone would go for it, and you'll definitely have to explain who it is about a million times to people at the cons you wear it to, but hey. if you like it and you want to wear it and it makes ya feel good, then do it! =)

*whistles* WOW those Kitana, and Mileena cosplayers are uh... nicely detailed...
And smiley, it would be bad ass to see a chick cosplaying as Stryker! Hell, it'd be nice to see a great MKD jade cosplayer, but I like the stryker one more <.< >.>
P.S. Big guns are ok, but "guns" are the last thing I look at on a woman  jus tthough I'd put that out there
