I think Chameleon could be of Reptile's race, chameleons being part of the reptile family just a more specific power/appearence. Is Chameleon in that big pic of Armageddon (if anyone has seen it) or is that him standing under Shao Kahn? and i dont think Liu Kang is in it pic either and is Noob Saibot (Tobias Boon) going to be in Armageddon???

...Chameleon's race hasn't been disclosed though we assume he's saurian (Reptile's race)...and yes he's under Kahn in the updated version...
...Liu Kang IS in the picture...as well Noob Saibot will be playable...apart from Smoke this time...

im almost positive that its been confirmed that hes reptile's race. but that created by shang and shoa would be pretty cool.
shang-tsung cant shap-shift anymore or atleast he couldnt in DA but even when he could he still had his own moves
and shujinko just sucks
i like chameleon cuz your opponent has no clue what he is going to do

i wonder if chameleon will be able to copy the cyborgs... i mean they are ninjas
and if he can how do u tell if ur them apart from ermac and scorpian
and how would he shoot a missle out of his chest?

Afraid not. There was no official story or information released on Chameleon (the male version). All we know is he is one of Shao Kahn's greatest warriors. He could have been created by Shadow Priests or Shang Tsung to replicate Reptile to a degree in case he died or something. Or he could be one of the Raptors, or something else altogether. We won't know until Armageddon is released.

Raptors is another name for Reptile's species. People often call them " Zaterrian" but in fact Zaterran is the name of their realm, not their species.  At least this was my interpretation of things.

...the official name of their race is saurian though I understand no one knows that...making it difficult for them to understand...but I didn't know raptor was an official nickname...

that could acrualy work relatively well as a story.
i think it would be best however, that he had his own moves
