Will there be like the first version where only around 15 or so were available from start. Or will it be as in the link I posted above this text?

Of the 64+ characters available, there will probably be about 20 available right at the game start, the rest you will have to unlock through Konquest Mode. There are videos from E3 of a person unlocking Rain in Konquest mode, check TMK Latest News to see them.
As for who the characters are where the key avatars are, they are:
-Meat (bottom left)
-Torch (bottom right)
-Daegon (middle left)
-Taven (middle right)
Another possible super-unlockable is Khameleon (the female verson only playable in Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the N64). He male counter-part found in the PC, PS1 and Sega Saturn versions of MKT, Chameleon, is seen on the character select screen at the top, in between Ermac and Noob Saibot. While Khameleon remains unconfirmed so far, there are rumors floating around she will be in the Special Edition of the game coming only for the PlayStation 2. Also, certain members of the MKTeam have been hinting for her to be in the game, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Torch (bottom right)?? Don´t you mean Blaze?
So the select screen i had a link for is a fake one, then? And only shows all the available charachters at once??

The characters Amphibious mentioned are the only confirmed ones. In fact, Boon has stated himself that all the characters will be unlocked from the "get-go" despite seeing them be "unlocked' in Konquest. They have a lot of work to d and I assume they are cutting their time by just unlokcing everybody and not programming all of the Vault stuff and pulling that off as a fan gift.

i think bloodyshadow has a point and why would they show the characters in the select screen if they are to be vaulted up in konquest mode?

...they've always shown all the characters before the game release...I had Havik, Kobra, and a few other Deception renders before the game even came out...
...but bloodymeadow...which interview did Boon state the unlocking status?

Has he said something about unlocking charachters?
Couldn´t some be bought in the Vault, others unlocked from the Konquest and maybe a few be released after certain amount of time has passed or a number of Arcade fights had been fought??

In the interview in OXM, second page, I believe it says (Trying word for word without the magazine one-hand, so I'll put the quotes in quotes) :

So no charachters will be have to be bought or found in Konquest then like in MKD? Wonder what will be in the Vault then??

I don't think this is right, when I was playing it at E3 I would open chests and it would say "unlocked character: rain" "unlocked character: kintaro: unless they changed it since then... also from the latest select screen image Taven,Daegon,Blaze and Meat are locked and have to be unlocked.
