Post subject: How to load from/save to memory card
Reply with quote

For some reason, I am unable to save any game data to my memory card, or load my saved Action Replay stuff from the card. I know the card works fine because the XBox recognizes it in the 'memory' section of the main xbox menu, and zees the game data. The data is fine because it was an official Action Replay cheat for the game.

Also, it's not even just not letting me load from the memory card. I can't save to it at all! I can't find, ANYWHERE in the game, the ability to save to a memory card. But I know I should be able to because it talks about it in the instruction booklet. So, I thought I'd attempt a last ditch effort to get it to ask me about the memory card....I deleted all of my Shaolin Monks data and put the game back in. Instead of prompting the "save to hard drive or memory card" message, it just instantly goes to the "Press Start" screen and makes a new save file with 0% unlocked.

I've tried every botton and trigger imaginable on the controller. I've tried using 3 seperate controllers. I've deleted my saved data and put the game disc back in. And NOTHING works!

Very Mad Could somebody PLEASE help me find out how to save to/load from the memory card?!

Have you been playing Survival mode?
Because Midway have an official statement about it, especially on the xbox version:

"Edited: 4/28/06: Access to the content being called “Survival Mode”, was removed from the retail version of Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. This mode of play was removed from the storyline and menu. No objectives or rewards are associated with this mode of play as it was not part of the final product. Following the steps to access this mode puts your save game files and gaming session at risk. Gamers who have accessed this mode of play have experienced console crashes and/or corrupted save files. Midway Customer Support does not advise or provide help accessing this game play mode. "

Regards,

Well aint that a fucking kick in the pants? We find a great and chalanging new mode just for it to curropt the data and screw with the console.

and if that isn't the cause of your issue, then it could be the cheats, some times that can be a side effect of using them.

You can't save or load from a card.

I never could either. If you read the back of the box, at least the XBox box, it does not check off the the Memory Unit avaliblity part of the special features.

It doesent matter to me i beat the game before i even knew about it. so when i finshed it and nothing was un locked their was no need for me to save. and it is'nt that hard to unlock, just as long as you break the barlles, i messed up a couple of times and it still worked for me.

Almost any game that has plenty to unlock will have other hidden not-supposed to be accessed people eg Smackdown 2 had Big Show and Ken Shamrock while Here Comes the Pain has a hidden British Bulldog, Pokemon Red, Blue and YEllow (Classic versions) have Mew this is just another one down the line its not the first and will not be the last so before trying to get these super seceret things m,ake sure they don't mess up your gaming experience first.

Well I never unlocked survival mode, so that's not the reason. Boring But I did get an e-mail from Midway:

Quote:
Response:
Thank you for contacting Midway Tech/Customer Support. Please see below for
details about your
inquiry to Midway.

Matt,

You can't save an Xbox game to the Memory Unit. Only the hard disk. What I
assume you are doing is
trying to transfer the save data from the hard disk to the MU through the
dashboard. However, you
can't load the MK:SM game data from the MU.

So the MU may work, but MK:SM will not load from it. This is by design to keep
people from copying
or sharing fully unlocked game profiles. If you have indeed deleted your save
game data from the
Hard Drive, you are going to need to start over. MK profiles/saves are
designed to be *not* be
copyable.

Regards,
Midway Tech/Customer Support

I think this is absolute B.S. personally. Not only because I loaded all unlocked content for MK Deception and they allow it for other games, but because the insturction manual states you can use the memory card! Very Mad PLUS, there are official Action Replay codes for Shaolin Monks, which makes this even more of a piss off! If I could copy my saved daga from the memory card to the hard drive in the main XBox window, then I'd be alright, but I don't think I can even do that!

Very Mad I'm really ticked off right about now. Especially after finding all those Action Replay codes!

***EDIT*** WOOT WOOT!!! I BEAT THE SYSTEM! I copied the Action Replay file from the memory card to the X-Box hard drive and then loaded it! Now I'm playing as Reptile in STORY MODE! Very Happy The only bad news is last night I tried deleting my saved file then turning on the game, hoping it would finally prompt me to load from the memory card. But, I'll just beat the game again. Wink With Reptile of course.

If you want amphib, you could also just take the hard drive out of your xBox, pop it into your PC as a slave drive, and copy the files to your PC for back-up purposes.
