MKD is a polished MKDA. Its complete (well, moreso on N64 thanks to more fighters) and its graphics and audio are more consistent.
If MKD (xbox) had included ShaoKhan AND Kintaro it would actually have gotten ALOT more play time from me. But only the N64 got SK and Goro (and GORO SO DIDN'T FIT, nor did his stupid sai fatality/harakiri). Plus they allready gave Goro a renew in MK4/MKGold and he had no ties to Shao Khan gamewise, which, in contrast, Kintaro clealry did (from MK2).
MKD +SK and Kintaro= a proper 3D MK game. As a long time MK fan thats the 3d MK I could enjoy. But alas- MKA and MKD sit unplayed at my brothers house and MKA (rental) was quickly shelved back at blockbuster, damned as the first MK game EVER that I did not buy. NOW THATS saying something! |

I actually wrote a five page review on Armageddon that I was going to post here, but it was way too long. I was basically (keep in mind I'm a huge MK fan... like, fucking huge!!!) trashing the game. it was one of the worst. I can get more graphic if people flame me but here's the review in a nutshell :
62 characters = good
arenas = a game that has the most arenas than any other MK and you fight in only about six at most in 1 player mode. SOMETIMES TWICE IN ONE LADDER!
graphics = meh, they were good, but there were a lot of choppy parts.
fatalities = glitchy, restricted, lame, quickly boring, generic (aside from shish kabob, that was great!)
Sword using characters can't do face up, face down, or knees behind.
Shang Tsung can, but not do face up, face down, or behind weapon fatality.
Mileena can't do face up or knees behind.
Sword fatality characters have terrible combos that make them not worth using.
endings = I couldn't complain, but some characters had the most pathetic thing I've EVER read as an ending.
Konquest = fun once, part way bored the hell out of me.
Secrets = there are secrets in this game?
glitches = where aren't there glitches?
Motor Kombat = Empty, pointless, five boring levels, crappy CPUs
Kreate-a-Kombatant = Not bad, very impressed. However missed some key points:
Blood color
Robot voice
drippy skin color
fat guys/girls
NO NINJA STAR PROJECTILES!!! ARE YOU KIDDING?! THERE ARE TWO CHARACTERS THAT SHOOT SHURIKEN! YOU COULDN'T PUT ONE IN KNOWING IT'S THE MOST GENERIC PROJECTILE?!!!!!!!
lack of weapon choices.
no wrap masks (Like Ermac or Reptile)
Death Traps = crazier than ever, Harder than ever to knock people into whiched makes then almost pointless. the coordinates are too exact.
aerial kombat = great, but restricted, I expected you to able to do more than a seven hit air combo and every one has, basically the exact same one. especially for weapons. With that damn head foot grab throw.
with so many characters, you really start to notice how every character has the same moves as another character. I mean, Nitara and Tanya are basically the exact same special move wise.
Blaze = I can beat him, but he's probably the hardest boss with the most unfair advantages. He pisses me off just about every time.
I haven't been that disappointed... probably, ever, no joke.
I haven't played in two months and I don't miss it. _________________

Over all this game was awesome. And I expected that. But I was dissapointed on some stuff. Such as, konquest. You couldnt go back through the realms to ancient relics! Also two seperate profiles to create two guys?!?! Come on. Thats really all I saw bad. So all in all the game was great execpt for those two. _________________ Dont Make Me Laugh!!

I like the game a lot, It's a little unbalanced in places but what do you expect with 65 characters (I think) and it being made in a year.
Though they could have had a lot more in it, like chess kombat which I love. Plus with swome characters like Frost it's just too easy for people to just spam and spam and spam. _________________ Destiny is a game is it not, and now you await my latest move!

I forgot to mention the dull, boring and completely characterless fatality system. Part of the point in having a fatality is showing how brutal the characters are and what they can do. _________________ Destiny is a game is it not, and now you await my latest move!

I've got a wee question (which is too wee to warrant it's own thread, so I thought I'd just drop it into this one). Was MK:A released on the Xbox 360?
You see, I had it on the PS2, but after loaning it out to a friend it returned (as the saying goes) "scratched to fuck". So I thought, now that I'm armed with a 360, I must hunt down a new copy of it. I don't have any problems with MK: Armageddon. I am enjoying the Konquest. A bit tricky as I am not a big video game player but I enjoy it. I love the fact you can create your own character which is just cool.

Yeah, the kreate-a-fighter mode in MK:A was one of it's saving graces. I'd spend hours perfecting my characters appearance, button config, and kombos to makes sure he looked, acted, and fought exactly the way I wanted him to. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

As cool as it was, it was still quite limited.
Either way, though, it was the one feature that made MK Armageddon worth playing. Sucks that I couldn't make Voldo, though, all the feminine clothing was in the female section. _________________ I'm gonna marry Quan Chi some day...

Oh, of course Armageddon is certaintly not a great game at all, especially after what they did to Motaro.

I don't think the Motaro fiasco had anything to do with pleasing the fans. I think it was just lazyness of the Team's behalf. Simply a case of there being to much work involve in making the full classic version and fitting him into the game, so instead the said "Fuck it. Let's just chop his hind legs off and say that there's some mad shit turning centaurs into minotaurs."
