|
| |
So I was playing around with MK2 in Shaolin Monks and came to realize that I was getting much better at it, being able to proceed atleast the first 4 fights without losing a battle vs the computer.
Theres no difficulty setting on this installment of MK2 either.
One terrible thing I've noticed about this game, was the incredible small array of cheap shots and patterns the computer would make on you in order to win.
It's programmed as if it could predict every move youre about to make.
Some cheap annoying shots the cpu would make:
Once your hit, you'll be tossed no matter what you try to do. It's inevitable. Even when you make the first hit, it hits you first. No matter how fast you are. Perfectly landed super difficult (non fun) combos, are your only hope.
Another thing I truely hate, is not being able to ever land an ice shot, or any type of projectile to my opponent because they always either block it perfectly, or duck miliseconds before you execute the damn move, orr they'll even jump away. Always. What's that all about? It's tooo perfect. And annoying.
The only way you can hit them with a projectile, is SOMETIMES, right out of a small useless combo.
Like Scorpions jump kick, teleport, spear combo. But why? That sucks.
I hate the way the cpu always grabs. Its soooo cheap and I wonder why the programmers made it that way?
I know its an old game and ranting about it is probably pointless now but as I keep playing and actually getting better at it, I realize "wow...that was very cheap".
Im curious. And be honest with your replies. How many of you are soo good at MK2 (the arcade perfect version -NOT the SNES) in MK:SM and MAT2 that you never lose and if so, how do you do it to win against extremely annoying characters like Shang Tsung or really, anyone right before you fight Tsung because thats when it reaaaally gets tough no matter who it is.
The computer in general makes it so no matter what you try, you will lose. I feel like I always win by luck and not because im better at it.
..I still love the game and will keep playing it. Just wished I could get in there and reprogram it so the difficulty is more honorable and less cheap, sort of like the difficulty that was Street Fighter 2 back in the days. Man, when it said you became the new world warrior, you felt it!

I agree with the part of those cheap shots especially when your at the end of the arena they keep on doing the same move and I go down they trip over. Nothing I can do. I play fairly they play dirty. but the shaolin monks version alrite. I prefer the Midway Arcade Tresuares 2 version less cheap shots.[/url] _________________ The Element Of Suprise Is The Key To Victory!!!

Now, correct me if i am wrong, but the MK2 in Shoalin Monks is supose to be the 'arcade perfect' version, meaning its in the game exactly as it was in the arcade machine. Now lets look at that charts:
Person + coins = happy.
Person - coins + arcade amchine = X
X = the unkown happyness level.
Coins + arcade machine*y = X
y = the company that released the arcade machine, the more coins they get, the happier they are
so in the end:
Person - coins + arcade machine = one happy company
And the way they get your money, is with hard game AI. because if the game was easy, you wouldnt be spending your money on it trying to beat it every weekend now would you?
So, taking this in mind, all it comes down to is if you can handle the chalange of the arcade machine. Try using Johnny Cage more, he is very good in that game. _________________

We should also keep in mind that this game was created primarily for VS play. And that´s also one of the reasons why the single player game isn´t perfect. Unfortunately for me and other people who have nobody to play with
On the other hand, even though the CPU can be very cheap, it also gives you the chance of being much cheaper, which isn´t better at all.
Btw. I prefer Mileena, when I get pissed about the cheap CPU. Ironically, she´s also the easiest character to defeat, if you don´t mind being as cheap as MK2 _________________ DEVELOPER DIARIES

Well, yeah. That makes sense. After all, Mileena is the best character in MK2. I find the Shaolin Monks version of the game very difficult. I only unlocked a day ago, but anyway, I haven't gotten past the second fight yet. It's because combos are tough to pull in MK2, unlike the later versions. I perfer the Sega version because I can actually win.

Im going to try MAT2's MK2. Also the other games that come with it.
Hopefully with the difficulty setting found on MAT2, I may enjoy the title a little more.
