Actually, i was always confused with that. So I remember reading that Goro had killed the great Kung Lao 500 years ago.
That being said, how did Kung Lao emerge from his grave to fight along Liu Kang?
And when you say the original, does that mean this Kung Lao is another decendant of the real one?

the end of Armageddon explains this. For the longest time MK fans have wondered what the deal was for the ancenstor Kung Lao. It seems, Kung Lao travaled back in time and it was he himself who fough Goro and it was rumored that he died, when actually, Kung Lao just returned to his current time.
