Well, im a little embarrased to say that I never knew this before. Which brings me to this... If a code on a cheat device can allow you to play as an unplayble character, does that open the possibilities that perhaps that character is actually an unlockable extra?
Or could it be a simple swap of models on an existing character's attributes?
Exactly, how many characters are actually unlockable in this game besides Scorpion and Sub Zero?

That's a whole nother subject dude, but to answer:
For story mode, none
For vs, Reptile, Kitana, Johny Cage andm Baraka
and the reason you can use those characters with a cheat device is because their modles, moves, and everything else is already encoded into the game, the devices just hack into the codes and alter the programing slightly so they can be used.
