Dan Akroyd (sp?) was just on a radio show last week and the announcer asked about GBIII as he was a big fan and Dan said they are making a GBIII movie, however it will not be live action and will be a CGI movie, with the original voices. One of the reasons is Bill Murray doesn't do "silly" roles anymore, but is more than hapy to do voice over work.
I can't wait, I grew up on Ghostbusters 1+2 Ghostbusters is in my top 10 movies of all time!

Has there been any confirmation on the release date? I know that some people will tell when a movie will be released in theaters. For example, Saw IV is going to be released Oct. 26, 2007 and AVP 2, which is really going to be lame, will be released on Dec. 27, 2007. _________________ Highest Kreate-A-Fatality: 11 (Ultimate Fatality)

No dates, they just announced production.
It's probably a while off yet.

That sucks man. All in all, the movie should be a hit, just like the first two Ghostbusters movies you grew up on. _________________ Highest Kreate-A-Fatality: 11 (Ultimate Fatality)

CGI movies always bomb, live action is the only way to make a real movie unless the characters have always been animated. its like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the live action movies kicked the hell out of the CGI versions. Ghostbusters should jsut replace murrey with another actor and make it live action again. _________________

You have to pick your battles, though. I mean Saw III had a lot of CGI work, especially with the way people's limbs were ripped apart (i.e. the Angel Trap and the Rack). As a matter of fact, so did Saw II with Gus getting his eye shot out by that gun and Addison's arms bleeding from that razor trap. Those movies were success. Ghostbusters III should be a success, even though there is going to be CGI work in it. It really depends on the storyline of the movie. _________________ Highest Kreate-A-Fatality: 11 (Ultimate Fatality)

although there's a difference between a live action movie with CGI work incorporated and a completely CGI movie. I was under the impression that this movie would be entirely CGI. was I mistaken? I haven't looked up any information on GBIII yet.
as for replacing Bill Murray, I think that's a terrible idea. everyone who's a fan of the series would probably agree with me when I say that when I think of his character and his style of humor, I can't think of anyone besides Bill Murray playing the part. _________________ Nikki: your friendly neighborhood moderator. ^_^

no actor is completely irreplacable, the whole idea behind acting is becoming someone your not. I'm sure they would find a really good peter vankman. if nothing else find a look alike and have murrey do voice over for him lol. CGI would cost more money than live action in the first place and true fans would always prefer the real acting to computer graphics. like it was mentioned complete CGI is totally different than a few live action CGI interactions. Imagin if you would the first 2 movies done in complete CGI you wouldn't care if the actors voices were replaced because you wouldn't be in love the them as the characters. CGI is too impersonal and completly seperates you from the actors you only get the basic story to enjoy. I can watch the old 80's cartoons for that lol. _________________

I belive from the way Dan spoke on the radio that the whole thing is CGI, like Happy Feet,Flushed Away or Cars ect... I'd imagine. Bill Murray couldn't be replaced, the only way to make a new Ghostbusters movie live action would be to have a new generation with cameos from Harold Ramis,Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson,Dan Ackroyd,Rock Moranis,Sigornay Weaver (get a real name, geez!) and Annie Pots. people would have a hard time adjusting to that, but I belive it would work if the new ghostbusters were cast close enough to the originals.

Im not too happy about the whole CGI thing. As I began reading this topic, I was like "wow GB3!! For real!? Wooohoo!" Then the words CGI came next and I became more like "ohh....mmm.. meh".
The reason is because honestly, personally, I was never a fan of film reproduction work in complete CGI, like the upcoming Ninja Turtles movie. Everyone I knew were excited till they found out it was going to be completely CGI.
There's something there about complete CGI work that just doesnt do it for some of us. It works great for movies like The Incredibles or Cars. But for a film like Ghostbusters?
Actually... let me go back and make a better point here. If a CGI Ghostbusters movie is made, yes, it can be fantastic. But dont call it Ghostbusters 3. Just leave it at Ghostbusters "insert sub-title here" to differentiate it from the live action films. That way people wont get drifted into thinking this is a film that occurs right after part 2 in specific, but rather a new movie with a visual twist.
For a film like Ghostbusters, I personally think it deserves to be live action. And regardless of how old each of the cast members are, it can be pulled off tastefully. Too bad for Bill not wanting in. He's an icon in Ghostbusters. Without him, it just wouldnt be Ghostbusters.
Its like replacing Carl Weathers "Apollo Creed" from Rocky to some other jive actor. Too iconic to replace just like that. A bad move.
Past movie fans, especially those New Yorkers whove grown to love their GB are probably going to be taken back a few steps about the CGI too.
Not saying it wont work. Im sure it will be funny and cool looking. I just prefer live action.
Well, I love Ghostbusters to bits and still miss the old cartoon shows that used to air about 13 years ago on saturday mornings.
I hope this doesnt bomb. _________________ MORTAL KOMBAT!!!

...haha...my exact thoughts...CGI or replace Murray? CGI...
...alas they were classics...and I have seen far too many classics ruined from unnecessary 'changes' (real-cgi in this case) in their sequels...I have trouble picturing this to be good unfortunately...I wish to look up on the subject and endure the details...
...I'd rather them reconsider Ghost Buster's ruin if they question its quality...still...I will watch it with excitement... _________________ "...don't think it's yours just 'cause you marked it with your urine."
