lol- here we go again...
UNREAL ENGINE3-its JUST AN ENGINE.
It is non-exclusive to any game or genre. Its easily one of the most moddable, flexible, and multi-SDK/multi-platform supported engines to date. It can do ANYTHING any gamedev would ever want.
Just about every major gamehouse has licensed the ver3 of the engine because of how great and flexible it is (obviously including Midway who got it about a year ago).
In my opinion the MKDA/MKD/MKA engine was weak and limited, so I am all for an engine thats so good even amateurs can turn what many call a "shooter engine" game to have hand to hand fighting, weapon melee and special moves, not to mention race car and jet fighing mods. And that was the old ver2.0 of the engine. ver3 is REDICULOUSLY more robust.
So in summary, if the game devs using the engine aren't completely inept dolts, UnrealEngine3 can do ANY type of game ANYONE would ever want to make and do it VERY well. Wink

(for reference, the only major UnrealEngine3 based game that has been in wide release is "Gears of War" for Xbox360. )

...after looking at a few games in the engine I've noticed a wider spread of genres, such as first-person/third-person shooters, RPGs, racing, and even puzzles, all of which are action-based or cool adventure games. If it really is a fighting game, I think it'll be pretty awesome to see what they come up with. It may be the most original fighting game of its time, hey, we can only hope.

Yeah that was exactly what i was saying about the engine. But people like Sub Zero and Albert Simon just freaked out for nothing just cause there using a engine from a shooting game. I mean engine's like you said are just engines and the mortal kombat team aren't that dumb to use the engine of unreal and make there mortal kombat game into a shooting game. They'll make the engine into a fighting engine of course that fits mortal kombat for xbox 360.

Like i said before though people just have to stop freaking out over this and wait till there's screenshots and videos out. Cause mortal kombat has never dissapointed me in games. Well maybe they made some bad games like Sub Zero mythologies and another game but hey every developer makes good and bad games at times. But midway makes there mortal kombat games more good then bad.
