The third Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 3, has been released on PC, Playstation, Nintendo Game Boy, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis.
The characters in the game (a total of 19, 15 playable, 2 not-playable and 2 secret, on pc)are again made even better then in MK2. In this third Mortal Kombat game, there are again more characters to choose from, and their sorylines are also just as great as in MK2. I can say the same for the overall storyline. The playability of the characters is also made better then in the first two games. The speed of the game is again faster, and I think maybe a little too fast (little slower would be more realistic). The player of the game has now much more freedom in the game, but I think it could still be better.
The moves of the characters are slighly better because of their use, you can for example use some moves while jumping (but again I think friendship and babalities are not so great, it can ruin the MK-atmosphere). The brutalities and animalities however are great for finishing the opponent in MK-style. The four attack possibilities (High punch, Low punch, High kick and Low kick) are still the same as in the first two games only now players can also run, which improves the game-play greatly and adds whole new tactic possibilities to the game. As for the difficulties in the game, they are balanced out better then in the second game, but they could still be better. The graphics of the game are again great and are good for the MK-atmosphere in the game. Not only the characters, which still are great (and different from each other), but also the backgrounds are once again very good. The sounds in the game, just like in the second game, is great. Overall, it can be said that the game is a fine successor from the second game. But many still find Mortal Kombat 2 the best Mortal Kombat game ever released. |
