| Part 01: Shinnok's Amulet |
By: Motocross Chick |
In the Outworld's debris, there remained a tall mountain. It was in the glacial part of the Outworld, and resting on at the top of the mountain was Shinnok's Amulet. Every soul knew the power it contained, and tried to get it, but no evil God would let it be that easy… Snares, guardians, creatures and Shinnok's menace killed everyone who tried to take the Amulet. And so, this is where the story of Mortal Kombat Mythologies begin…
Five miles away from the mountain stood Sub-Zero's Lin Kuei Ice Palace. The new Grandmaster had gathered his Ninja clan, and even Scorpion came to see him. Sub-Zero fought against them, defeating all except for Scorpion, who stood by and watched. Then Sub-Zero made the Ninjas work on their speed. Each day they trained hard, and finally Sub-Zero announced that the day had come…
Because Sub-Zero had once worked for Quan Chi and Shinnok before, Shinnok knew that the Lin Kuei Ninja would once again try to get the Amulet himself.
The night before they climbed the mountain, Scorpion and Sub-Zero fought.
"You're risking your life up there!" Scorpion exclaimed. "It's you Shinnok wants."
"Did you think I didn't know that?" Sub-Zero turned around and glared at the Shirai Ryu Ninja. Sub-Zero's fists were clenching and unclenching. His eyes burned with hatred, but it was not at Scorpion, it was from the past. Everything Sub-Zero had done only brought one disaster after another, and if not that, a lecture from Rayden as well. Sub-Zero hated his past, and whenever it was brought up, anger would surge through his veins.
"Send in your best Ninjas-" Scorpion began.
"To have them be slain?" Sub-Zero shot back. "Do you actually think they can make it?"
Scorpion's eyes narrowed and he stepped out of the room.
Sub-Zero sank onto his bed, tired from today's training and fighting with Scorpion. There was a knock at his door and then Frost appeared with a cup of green tea in her hands. She sat on the bed and handed him the tea.
"Drink it," She urged. "You need to rest."
Sub-Zero slowly drank the tea and lay down again. Frost massaged his back for a while and then kissed his forehead. "Good night." She murmured and left the room.
Sub-Zero lay there, thinking about Frost and his fight with Scorpion. Mixed feelings surged through his mind, but he soon fell asleep.
To be continued...
