| Chapter 16: Traitor to family |

It was like staring into a mirrior of a former self. Subzero stood there beside Quan Chi and Reptile wearing the same Lin Kuei outfit that his younger brother wore on the arena floor. The search appeared to be over for Sub. His brother was there in the flesh, on the side of the enemy. But how could this be? Subzero fought against Quan Chi to save Earth Realm and prevented Shinnok from escaping the Nether Realm. So why would he join him now?
"Now you see young Subzero, your fate is already sealed. Yours and the Realm of Earth. But you do not need to know any more. Subzero, destroy your brother" said Quan Chi. Subzero didn't even reply with a nod. Subzero double flipped off the balcony and landed sturdy on his feet. Sub stepped back from his brother and got into a fighting stance. This didn't make any sense to him. But what else could the former Lin Kuei warrior do?
"This is not happening" said Sub. Subzero began walking closer to Sub. Sub stepped back. The last time he had to fight his brother, he almost died. Things got rough now, and fighting him again was not on his list of things to do. Still, his elder brother would say nothing.
"What is wrong with you brother? Why are you doing this? Tell me they put a spell on you. Tell me you're not working for them" said Sub. Subzero swung a hard right fist at Sub. Sub ducked fast and moved behind Subzero, who quickly turned around. Sub wasn't going to have a choice rather quick here. Subzero was not pulling his swings at all. This was going to end fast if Sub didn't do something to stop this soon.
"Don't you realize the consequences at stake here?!" he said. Subzero didn't listen. He snapped one leg high at Sub. Sub arched his body back and pushed Subzero's leg out of the way. The two Lin Kuei artists continued to circle around eachother while a smiling Quan Chi and a sinister looking Reptile watched on.
Sub kept his fists up. His mind was not focused enough. Images flashed through him. Scorpion, Nightwolf, Raiden, Sektor, his family. He was becoming a jumbled mess in his mind. And time was running out.
"Were family Subzero. You can't do this. This isn't right." said Sub. Subzero still would hear nothing of it. He came around and nailed a left hook into Sub's gut. Subzero then brought out his leg and tripped Sub ontu the ground. Sub was on his back fast and Subzero was right ontop of him with his right fist dangling over head like a spike about to be driven intot he ground. Sub was looking at a stone cold killer, just like the Lin Kuei had tried to make him but failed. His eyes were so ice blue, it was intimidating.
"You don't understand brother." said Sub. Subzero clenched his fist tighter and quickly was about to strike.
"We have a sister!!!!" He yelled out. Subzero froze in motion. Those words made Sub's older brother think for the first time since he just saw him. This was it.
Sub inched his legs inwards and pushed Subzero high into the air and in mere seconds Sub was up and running away towards the edge of the mysterious city. Subzero quickly got up and was about to run after his brother, but Quan Chi raised his hand.
"Leave him be. He is of no concern now. One brother of the Lin Kuei will do just fine. We have mnore important things to attend to now" he said. Subzero looked on with his cold blue eyes. He face paled with anger, yet stricken with a single word echoing in his own mind.

Sub had gotten away without anyone following him. As he exited the city it began to vanish into a thick rush of damp clouds and smoke. In moments, it had dissapeared completely. Sub turned around and looked more confused then ever.
"What is going on?" he thought to himself. There were no answers, only more questions. It was clear there was more to this then just Mortal Kombat. Maybe it was time to join Princess Kitana after all. Sub headed in a direction towards another city, one he knew was real...
