| Chapter 14: On the trail of a killer |

Faces peered from villages, towns, crushed cities. Emotional faces of the dead all looking out silently in the dismal darkness. Subzero found no survivors in any area he crossed since he left on the trail of Reptile. If it was him that was annihilating all these people, it was clear that mass destruction held no boundary of person or place.
There was no honor in this. Just evil. Subzero raced along the dotted lines of the lands he crossed finding himself in a direct path with enemies that he knew would want to see him dead. And what of his brother? Had he found Scorpion, and of his sister. Was she even still alive? Too many questions and too few answers to be found in a world of magic and lies. Since the end of Mortal Kombat the world should have been set to peace. Earth realm had been through enough hell yet, never did it seem to be over. Somehow he knew that Raiden was in dire need. Especially since he called on the brother of Subzero to help fight the oncoming slaughter that Subzero kept on missing by a nail.
As Subzero cleared a rancid looking forest he came before a great city just out in the blue horizon of dawn.
"What is this place?" he thought. He didn't recognize it and he knew these lands well. He kept by the shadows as he entered through where there was no one to be seen. The outside walls were still in good condition but the degradation Subzero could tell had been expiring the city for at least a few hundred years. Now this was getting very strange. An old city clear in the middle of nowhere at the edge of a forest never have been seen before and here it is in the make.
Subzero came into a small walkway facing towards the center direction of the city. He followed it from the side view staying out of sight. He saw people walking around. None of them appeared to be from this own century. Very old style, even mixed races. Subzero jumped up and began chasing around the second floor around the ancient city.
The moment he stopped to take a grand look around he noticed at the center of the city was a flat circled arena quite wide in diameter. At the center stood a familiar figure in a green ninja outfit.
"Reptile" said Subzero. He immediately jumped up and shot out an ice spike rocketing all across to the bottom near the center of the arena. Subzero wrapped his hands around it and slid down the long spike landing right behind reptile.
"Reptile" said Subzero standing up. Reptile made no move to turn around. Instead he heard a hissing sound and out came twenty similiar dressed ninjas all circling around the blue ice warrior. Reptile then turned around to show his reptilian face as his long tongue slithered in and out of his mouth.
"S-s-s-s-sssubzero, I've been exxcssspecting you" said Reptile. He back flipped out of the arena as the ninjas drew closer.
"Great" said Subzero as he tensed his fists up looking all around him knowing the next few minutes were not going to be pretty...
