| Chapter 12: Subzero Vs. Nightwolf |

Subzero looked at his opponent quick and carefully. Surely his coming was not by accident. A battle between the two was almost expected by Subzero, but the formality could have gone a little smoother. Nightwolf appeared to be dressed in his native american attire for combat, with a few changes in the coloring. His strength though emanated all around the campfire. Subzero was in his territory now.
Nightwolf made the first move as he leaped over with a fierce and fast thrust kick. Subzero spun to the right and slipped his right arm out flat palm out. Nightwolf ducked hard and grabbed a hold of Subzero's arm. Quick as lightening the two fastened and got out of their arm holds on eachother both keeping their stances very wide apart.
Nightwolf's form of martial arts was distinctly different from Subzero's. Though Subzero trained since his memory would allow the chinese form of Kung Fu known as Lin Kuei, Night Wolf learned Judo and Tae Kwon Do mainly. Their styles mingled very roughly.
Subzero turned inward and flew his right leg around but Night Wolf caught it and rolled Subzero down to the ground. Subzero bounced up and this time charged landing both feet with a double roundhouse. The second foot caught Night wolf sending him back a few feet. In no time the two were back into it switching knees and elbows across eachother's blocks. It didn't take long before they both realized they were both holding back.
"That isn't wise Subzero" said Nightwolf. Before Subzero could answer Night wolf had him in a hold that didn't seem to familiar to him.
"Don't count me as an ally yet cold warrior" he said. Subzero stepped back and flipped Nightwolf to his back. Nightwolf kicked Subzero in the face and popped back to his feet. Subzero balled one of his fists and slammed it in Nightwolf's gut. Night wolf let out his breath as it hit him then he clasped Sub's body and turned it over wrenching yet another hold on him.
"Every hit it takes longer to defeat me Subzero, goes in favor to your next opponent" said Nightwolf. Subzero had finally had enough. He threw his arms up and slipped through Nightwolf's arms. On his back Subzero whipped his legs around his body and tripped Night Wolf to his side as Subzero got back up returing to his original stance.
Night wolf looked up at him and smiled arrogently.
"Took you long enough" he said getting to his feet. Subzero did not move.
"Have I past your test?" said Subzero. Night wolf stood up to him.
"For now" he said then walked back to the fire. Subzero looked over and saw his sit by the fire. then he finally dropped his guard and walked over but stood away from the fire.
"No I guess you don't need to keep warm now do you" said Nightwolf. Subzero said nothing at first.
"Well now that we've found eachother, perhaps we should get down to business" said Nightwolf.
"And what business would that be?" said Subzero finally.
"We're both here for the same reason, but I need to know from you on a spiritual level where your truth lies" said Nightwolf.
"What do you mean?" said Subzero.
"Dream state. You need to face your inner demons and make them apart of your truth before you can conitnue on this journey, before you can face your enemy and more importantly your brother" said Nightwolf. Subzero squinted his eyes.
"You're supposed to accomplish all that for me?" said Subzero. Night wolf stood up and pulled out his tomahawk.
"No, Im just supposed to get you started" he said and through the blunt end right into Subzero's face. Subzero fell right to the ground knocked out "cold".
Night wolf grabbed his tomahawk and put it away.
"2 for 2" he said and sat down by the fire getting ready for the next stage"...
