| Chapter 09: Ally or foe? |

Subzero heard the nectar like voice exit her own name to him as he demanded it. His strong grip on her thin throat was not eased though. Instead Subzero only became more demanding.
"Why have you been following me?" he loudly whispered out. Jade kept her crystal clear eyes on the ice ninja so that they would not sway. Her mind must have been brewing fast but Subzero did not let for slow answers.
"Answer me now!"
Jade showed a lacking breath of fear on her face. Only a face of ease and precision came across her.
"I was sent to find you" said Jade. Her voice again calm and sweet like a mellow talk after a calm rainy shower from above. Subzero remained guarded.
"By whom?"
"Princess Kitana" she said. That was one name Subzero did not expect to hear from her lips. His thought was hidden well as he relinquished the tense grip across her smooth silken throat. Jade massaged her skin for a second as Subzero took a step back.
"I know who you are Jade, you don't work for Kitana anymore, what are you doing here?" he said. Jade stayed against the wall attempting no escape for a kind gesture.
"I may no longer be in her service, but I assure you my loyalty has always been to the Princess of Edenia." said Jade.
"What does she want with me?" said Subzero. Jade began to make her explanation.
"She is attempting to gather Earth's forces once more, it appears that the centaurs of Outworld have been given the chance to enter Earth Realm and they have begun siezing cities in this world. She is desperate Subzero, she believes that the Fallen God Shinnok has been released from his prison of the Nether Realm. We are all once again in great danger." said Jade. Subzero looked like he heard this story before.
"So then why attack me?"
"There is no hope for Earth Realm unless the warriors here are strong and pure of heart" said Jade.
"Fair enough. I've heard this all before. But I cannot help until my current mission is settled" said Subzero. Jade looked surprised.
"But surely with a danger as great as this, any lone mission can be put aside for the risk of mankind and it's home" said Jade. Subzero kept a straight face.
"We all fight for things that help save this world. Tell your Princess Kitana that I have heard her message and I shall side by her, but not until my mission is complete" said Subzero. He had been refering to his mission to find both the Hell risen Scorpion, and his lost brother Subzero. Subzero turned and began to walk away from, Jade. Jade anxiously followed.
"Then if this mission is so important, then I will help you to complete it quicker, what is it you are so searching for?" she asked catching up with him. Subzero kept his face forward.
"It does not concern you. I advise you to leave and not return to my presence. If you care about this world so much, then go and fight for it. I will not be far behind." said Subzero. Jade stopped as Subzero continued forward.
"Subzero...your brother's return is news that all kombatants have all begun to hear. We know that you are searching for him." said Jade. Subzero stopped in his footsteps. Clearly news like that has been getting around fast. His choice to stay away from the fight might have been foolish, but it was neccessary.
"Like I said, it does not concern you. Do not interfere with my mission again" he said and finally buried himself within the crows of Jui Jsinn. Jade put her hood back on and beathed a meloncholy sigh abd vanished herself.
Subzero found himself at the destined time back at the old man's abode. Hopefully he would have the information that Subzero was desperately looking for...
