| Chapter 01: After Annihilation |
By: Shaun Penney |
Well into the realm of night. A dreary cold wind blew lightly into a lonely cave deeply hidden from all life. Within the cave, a single being stood watching out the eye of the cave looking onwards into the forming stars of the black sky. The figure breathed a few medititative breaths then closed his eyes. As he opened them again, he thought fresh once more. New thoughts, not old like the odor of death, and not finite like the life of mortality, but new, thoughts of possibilities in the shores of life.
Subzero looked on past the cave and into the realm of Earth. There stood a realm saved from the evil forces of Shinnok and Shao Kahn. His involvment had been very little, but that was his style. Like an assassin, he came and left like a flinch of daylight catching the end of a dripping glass. When he saved Liu Kang and Kitana from his old friend Smoke, he had forced himself to destroy the one person that he considered to be a comrade. But for the good of all humanity, he did what needed to be done, and he left Liu with a mindful of thoughts about how one is ready to face what is to come.
Subzero put his hands together and held them out in front of his chest. He stood no more then ten feet away from the cave opening. Another chilling wave of eind came in making the sound of light whistles with almost no echo. Nothing cold effected the ex Lin Kuei warrior. He was born in the cold, he lives the cold, his heart beats the blood of a cold warrior. Subzero moved his hands and ran his loose fingers through his short dark hair. He knew at this time, somewhere, the Lin Kuei were as of now disbanded, and he was alone, with the original Lin Kuei morals stil burned in his mind. He was still an assassin, still a fighter, still a man to be feared.
Still he wore the patented Lin Kuei gear that had been passed to him only so long ago. It still had meaning in his heart, as well as his soul. With another tender breath, Subzero walked out and made himself visible to the moonlight high over head the cave and the horizon.
He felt the strength from nature, and the power of the elements flow through him still. There things needed to be done. In his line of work, things were never done, there would always be something coming, someone nearby, someone watching somewhere.
>From a far distance, a lone figure walked through the tight low brush of the swollen lands. He walked in a strong robotic pace without so much as slowing down for rest. His sensors spotted his target from a mile away, and now, it was time to eliminate that target. The cyber known only to those who knew him as Sektor was coming for the assassin Subzero. Soon, Mortal Kombat would begin again...
