| Chapter 04: Brothers |

Subzero eyes were crisp with confusion. Surely Raiden was trying to decieve him by telling him that his brother was alive. But Sub quickly realized that this was not an act that a Thunder God would do normally.
"Alive? How is this possible. He was killed in the first tournament, everyone knows this" said Subzero.
"Did you see it with your own eyes" said Raiden.
"Of course not I was with my clan at the time. But he never returned when I heard what happened, that was part of the reason why I left to fill his place to assassinate Shang Tsung" said Subzero.
"Well there ya go. Sounds about right, at least from your end. But remember, your brother is a cold blooded killer, assassin and...a man of subterfuge." said Raiden.
"What do you mean?" said Subzero. Raiden motioned that they walk off of the snow on to more solid ground. Subzero followed but with curious eyes.
"It didn't take Subzero long to find out that the Amulet he gave me was a fake. During the tournament he confronted Scorpion for the second time and the the blood had been brewing long enough by those two. They went at like warriors should. Scorpion had the upper hand then Subzero just...dissapeared. Everyone thought that Scorpion blew him right out of his shoes, but then he appeared once more not too long ago.
"I thought he was killed by Liu Kang" said Subzero.
"Im getting to that. The warrior that fought Liu Kang was someone your brother found to take his place. Apparantly he got wind that Kitana was secretly giving Liu Kang information on how to defeat him. His stage to dissapear worked nicely. But just recently he showed up to reclaim his roots." said Raiden.
"What happened?" said Subzero.
"Your brother has been out of the game for a long time. He has no idea about what happened to the Lin Kuei or of the recent events between Earth Realm and the defeat of Shao Kahn. It appears though he is making quite a few enemies since his return. Scorpion being one of them." said Raiden.
"Why are you telling me this?" said Subzero. Raiden sighed.
"Because your brother did save Earth Realm once, true he made the mistake on his own but he did correct it. I told him once his choices are his own and that know one can determine his destiny but him. Scorpion is your guardian correct?" said Raiden.
"Yes" said Subzero. Raiden had been refering to the time during the second tournament when Scorpion found out that Subzero's younger brother was the one who entered the tournament to kill Shang Tsung and not Scorpion. Scorpion vowed that he would protect the Lin Kuei warrior though he had his earlier rampage with Sub's older brother before.
"Then only you can save your brother from him. The truth is, we need all the earth fighters we can get. Quan Chi is trying to summon Shinnok back to our realm to claim it as his own. If this happens, the war that had claims millions back a long time ago will begin again." said Raiden.
"I understand." said Subzero.
"Then go, your brother lies west, that is all I can say for now, good luck" said Raiden. Subzero bowed towards the Thunder God as he vanished in a strike of lightening that came down through him. Subzero took a large breath and looked beyond the horizon.
His brother was alive. He didn't know what to think, but if Raiden was right, he was going to need all the help he could get to fight these old evils. Subzero cleared his head and began to travel...
