| Kabal's Vengeance |
| 02 - Resurface |
By: Khameleon_Girl8 |
Nobody seemed to notice Kabal was gone. Nobody had ever noticed him. He was elusive. A shadow cast upon the world and an enigma that nobody quite understood. Why should they remember him? They never even knew his real name. They didn't even know his age. Why should they know where he was?
Kabal knew that they didn't care. Without them noticing, the notorious man had been watching the whole time. Not even Kano knew that he was in the city. For Kabal, evading Kano was a real ccomplishment. It wasn't as if Kano was "smart" or anything. He was as dumb as a ball point pen. But he had spies everywhere. The fact he hadn't been caught proved that nobody knew where he was. Nobody ever would.
Kabal eyed himself in a broken piece of glass in an alley, his new home. He cocked his head as he rubbed his hand down his face in horror. The scars were as clear as ever, as if some sort of sealer was on the horses hooves, sealing them while they were open. With a shake of his head, he turned away and listened. His hearing was dull, and it didn't help much, but he swore he heard somebody coming.
Soon, it was confirmed. Somebody was coming.
Even with his fading sense of sound, he could hear the voice of a man, a big one at the sound, coming around the corner. Slowly. He hadn't caught it until what seemed to be the last minute, since the shadow of a towering figure was seen coming around. Kabal jumped for a fire escape, and lost his grip quick. The sweat building up from the panic of beeing seen in this condition had made his palms to slippery to grip. He didn't want to be seen. He flung his other hand up, but it was too late. He quit his efforts, and crashed to the ground into a pile of cardboard boxes.
Dazed from his fall, it wasn't until he saw the face of the man that he realized he had been caught. The guy was funny looking though. From the angle Kabal was in, which was flat on his back and looking up, all he could see was the silhouette of a man dressed in what seemed to be spiked armor. This baffled him. No man in his right mind would walk out of his home in armor.
"Who are you?" the man demanded. Kabal, mute by now, couldn't answer, and just crossed his arms and turned away. The man, who was at least two feet taller than Kabal, picked him up by the back of his vest and stared at him in the face. This offered no help to Kabal identifying the weird guy, since he was wearing a skull mask. The man also didn't seem to be intimidated or disgusted by the awful face Kabal was displaying. With a feeling of acceptance overwhelming him, he restrained from fighting back and calmly dangled at the end of the mans arm.
"I am going to ask you again. Who are you?"
Kabal shrugged, hoping to get the guy to put him back to his feet. Getting an idea, Kabal pointed to the man, then to himself, signalling he wanted the identity of the man, before he gave up his. Reluctantly, the regal, dead appearing guy sat Kabal down, and gazed down upon him in an unsettling glance.
"If it will get your identity out of you, I am Shao Kahn."
Kabal picked up a wire hanger from a dumpster and looked for a pile of dirt or small pebbles. Upon finding it, he wrote "Kabal" and stood back regally, trying to give the appearance he was bigger than he really was. Maybe this would get Kahn to leave. A weird presence was felt emitting from him, giving Kabal the chills. He also smelled of dead bodies, and Kabal could only wonder what was under the mask.
Kahn walked right up to Kabal and stared straight in his face, smiling a bit as he did so. Kabal ran backwards until he hit a wall, and was forced to stop. With a laugh, Kahn picked Kabal up and stared at him.
"You are in much worse condition than Rain told me. You are still alive as well. You are truly worthy."
With a cock of his head, Kabal made a clear impression that he was absolutely clueless about the current conversation. Who was Rain? What was he worthy for? Apparently something, but what? And just who did this guy think he was? He had so many questions he would never be able to ask. So many mysteries he would never know unless Shao Kahn ever figured out that HE COULDN'T SPEAK!
"Why do you look at me like that? Can't you talk? Do you have the power of speech?"
Kabal shook his head and rolled his good eye. Oh, what a genius. It took Kahn THAT LONG to figure it out. Bravo for him. And Kabal thought Kano was dumb. This guy was a moron. More clueless than Kabal had ever been in his life.
"Well maybe I should tell you. You have been chosen. Chosen for the Extermination Squads. You are strong, and you are brave. You shall be a new general." Kabal shook his head no. He didn't want to be a general. He wanted to be put down to the ground before he was choked to death.
"WHAT! YOU REFUSE TO OBEY ME!?"
With a nod of his head, Kabal smiled ear to ear. This was sure to catch Kahn off guard. With a growl, he flung Kabal to the ground, and stomped on his chest with such force, Kabal's bones cracked and organs shifted. Nothing good would come out of this, especially when Kabal realized he couldn't breath. He clenched his eyes together and let out a wheeze from the air being knocked out of him.
"STOP!"
A thundering voice was heard from the corner, and as Kabal felt himself dying, a white haired man emmited from the street, charging Kahn, and staring down at Kabal. His eyes sparked a little, and Kabal swore he was hallucinating. Wasn't he? All he knew is that he was dying. He wouldn't live for another day...
