When the Lin Kuei group, led by Cyrax was sent to attack a small village of innocent civilians, Rayden sent Kung Lao and Lui Kang to stop them at all costs. Cyrax was killed and information stored in his nureal net about how he was created was found by Kung Lao. This technology was used to create a cybernetic ninja, intended to work to help Kung Lao and Lui Kang. This was programmed into the robots nureal net and was encrypted. The robot was pure robot unlike the original robot ninjas, Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke. The new robot (Known as Exo) was captured by Shinnok, shut down and dragged down to the pits of hell where he lay on Standby mode for years. 5 years after his capture he awoke in hell. His eyes glowed bright green and he said one of his first ever programs outloud: "This Unit Must Survive" Exo looked at himself and then around the area. He appeared undamaged, although his masters were no where to be seen. He decided he was no longer on Earth. He wanted back to Earth and thought that there must be a portal somewhere. He began wandering through Hell until he encountered Scorpion. Exo was not sure who this was. Scorpion was preparing to fight. He stood completely still without saying a word. Then a loud voice came from Scorpion which could be heard all through the Netherworld. "GET OVER HERE!" The long snake creature flew out of Scorpions hand and missed Exo by a inch. Exo did not know who this was, but automatically launched Plasma at Scorpion. The Plasma his Scorpion hard in the stomach and he fell back. Scorpion pulled his mask off and breathed fire at Exo which hit him, but Exo absorbed it, and threw it back at him in the form of Plasma! Scorpion couldn't take much more Plasma, and any magic attack done to Exo would be absorbed. Scorpion would have to use brute force. Scorpion punches Exo hard in the chest, resulting in a very sore fist. "The body armour my master put on, proved useful..." thought Exo, and he also assumed that the armour was fully functional. Exo through Scorpion to the ground and held his throat, demanding a way back to Earth. Suddenly Exo found himself travelling through an interdimensional gateway, With Scorpion! The both arrived in Outworld. Scorpion stood up, and then disappeared into thin air. Exo looked around. "Where am I now?" he thought. He looked up at the Black Tower, being it was the closest thing to civilisation he could see. "The Black Tower...Castle Of Shao Kahn...I must be in the OutterWorld!" He said to himself. He was confused. Without his masters to enter new programs he could not be sure of what to do. He scanned all his programs to see if there was any that could help his situation. The only helpful one was program 3. "This Unit Must Survive". So, that was what he would do - survive. It couldn't be that difficult. Not with heavy armour, missiles, machine guns, plasma shots, and enhanced abilities. He went to the castle, hoping he'd find some way to access a portal back to Earth. He saw Kitana walking into the castle. He followed her. He caught up with her and asked for a way back to Earth. "...Come with me" said Kitana. Her and Exo went through the OutterWorld until they found a Portal back to Earth. Exo went through it, to find his temple being attacked by Baraka and his minions in the Mutant Race. He searched for Kung Lao or Lui Kang and eventually found Kung Lao having a very vicious fight with Baraka. "Exo!" said Kung Lao, looking like he could hardly believe his eyes, and he paid for his moment of not paying attention when he was slashed across the face by Baraka. "Master..." said Exo "..What must I do?" "You need to help save the Temple!" said Kung Lao. Without a moments hesitation, Exo fired one missile at Baraka which either killed him or knocked him out. Exo moved quickly through the temple killing anyone who posed a threat and he wasn't taking any prisoners. After hours of fighting, Exo, Kung Lao and Lui Kang defeated the Mutant Race. "Master..If I may ask, why did the Mutant Race attack us?" Exo asked. Kung Lao shrugged "Their savage, and we were the enemy...What I'm more interested in is how did you get out of Hell and get back here...and how did it take you five years?" "Shinnok put my entire system on Stand By for five years. I do not know how I was re-activated." "Do you remember anything?" asked Kung Lao "I remember everything since I was captured right up until I was re-activated." "..Do you think you are still able to compete in Mortal Kombat, like I programmed you to do?" ask Kung Lao "Most certainly, Master." During the next Tournament, Exo entered to team up with Earth's forces. With Exo's help, Shao Kahn was once again defeated and his tournament lost. At least another ten generations before he would finally be able to take over the Earth Realm. Exo continued to fight for his masters, Kung Lao and Lui Kang right up until he was defeated by one of his first ever enemies. Scorpion.
