| Storyline: |
The name Raiden is actually that of a deity known as the thundergod. He also goes by the protector of the realm of earth. He helps the earth warriors understand the tournament and tries to help them win it. With his wisedom the earth warriors are able to defeat Shang Tsung and safe the earth from falling in the hands of the evil emperor Shao Kahn.
Because of the evil plan of Shao Kahn to ressurrect his long dead wife on earth which enables him to open the portals, Raiden stands powerfull to interfere anylonger. As a god he is powerless to help the earth warriors because earth is now in the hands of the evil emperor. But not entirely, the earth warriors are still there, Shao Kahn couldn't take their souls. They are the only chance for earth to survive. As they fight out their first battles against the outworld warriors, Raiden takes a difficult dicision. Rayden decides to give up his own immortality to be able to fight at the side of the earth warriors during Shao Kahn's invasion and help them defeat Shao Kahn. The outworld emperor and his minions were defeated once more and the earth changes back into it's normal state again.
The god of thunder returns after the defeat of Shao Kahn, but finds a new threat when Shinnok's forces, led by Quan Chi, attack the elder gods. Raiden has met Shinnok before: With the heavens in disarray Raiden excists as one of the last gods on earth. He must come to the aid of his elders and put an end to this evil villanous reign of his ancient enemy. He now prepares for the final battle between the forces of light and Shinnoks hell spawned forces of darkness After the tournament is over and the earth warriors managed to defeat the outworld menace once again Fujin meets Raiden while the elder gods of the elements tell him they have another task for him. Raiden tells him that he can now take his place as an elder god and that he wants Fujin to take his place as the protector of the earth realm. Fujin proudly accepts and promises Raiden not to fail, while Raiden leaves to his place as an elder god.
Raiden had been elevated to the status of Elder God after the war with Shinnok. But when he could not convince the other Elder Gods to prevent Shang Tsung from awakening the Dragon King's sleeping army, he relinquished his status and returned to Earthrealm. Raiden went out to meet with all earth heroes and he told them to meet on the old island fortress of Shang Tsung in the Lost Sea. Once the Earth's heroes assembled on a beach of Shang Tsung's abandoned island fortress, Raiden appeared to them and explained in detail the events leading up to the formation of the Deadly Alliance. Although Kung Lao had already known, the others were shocked to learn that their old friend and ally, Liu Kang, was dead. Raiden had brought to the surface the sunken ship Shang Tsung had used to bring the warriors to his island. The heroes boarded the ship and were taken to a remote spot in the Lost Sea. None mentioned the fact that there was no one steering the ship. The Thunder God raised his hand and an enourmous storm formed in the air above the ship. Off to one side, a platform of some ancient design appeared from out of nowhere. Raiden explained that it was a celestial portal that could be used to traverse to Outworld. The Earth warriors were ready for battle.
After fierce battles, once again, the threat to Earthrealm has been vanquished. The Deadly Alliance is no more. What dangers lie in the future, I
can no longer foresee. Perhaps the Dragon King will, in fact, return. Perhaps the depths of the Netherealm will spew forth a legion of Oni. Even the Vampire people pose a threat to peace now that Outworld is in chaos. But one thing is certain... Earthrealm must be protected. I have abandoned my status as Elder God to aid these mortals... an act defiant of the Heavens. I will instead remain here on Earth... as GOD OF THUNDER. |

| Fighting Style: |
Nan Chuan: Nan Chuan is a composite style built from elements of various other southern styles of kung fu. Historically, Southern Chinese tended to be shorter, with shorter limbs. As a result, the martial arts of the south evolved in a way that accommodates their shorter reach. This manifested itself in attacks that are most effective at short to middle range. Nan Chuan contains a greater number and variety of hand techniques, and fewer leg
techniques.
Jujutsu: Jujutsu is a term used to refer to unarmed Japanese combat. Historically there are more than 750 documented
varieties of Jujutsu. In general, Jujutsu tends to be comprehensive in the sense that they teach hand and foot strikes, throwing, joint-locks and ground fighting. Today Jujutsu is most commonly associated with throws, joint-locks and ground fighting.
Staff: The cudgel (long staff) has existed as a weapon since man first started fighting with hand weapons. |
